Educators collaborate with local, county and state agencies, partner organizations, businesses and schools to analyze needs, develop, implement and oversee research-based educational programs, and provide resources and expertise to the community.
This position in the McClain County Extension Office, Purcell, Oklahoma will provide leadership in community economic development programs in a dual assignment with approximately 90% of time spent in Community Economic Development and 10% of time spent in 4-H youth development work. This position will provide educational programs to foster business growth, entrepreneurship and to develop leaders to solve local problems. Extension educators comply with all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, etc., related to equal opportunity, civil rights, and affirmative action.
The Educator will:Work with state and local advisory committees in conducting needs assessments to identify critically important issues. Collaborate with other county educators, area & state specialists to plan deliver and evaluate extension programming. Ensure efforts are made to reach diverse audiences and provide equitable access to programs and facilities. Recruit and develop volunteer leadership necessary to help carry out the mission of the OSU Extension. Develop relationships with colleagues, partners and stakeholders within the community, such as chambers of commerce, county government, economic/industrial development authorities, workforce development committees, and regional development entities.
Programing may include:Community economic analysis to help communities organize, prioritize, and achieve economic development goals.Community leadership development to support efforts related to improving the quality of life for residents.Digital access and utilization to support housing development, workforce development, and business development and expansion.Connect resources such as USDA Rural Development, Oklahoma Small Business Development Center, etc. to McClain County and provide support in writing grant applications and utilization of cost-share programs.
Base annual salary for entry-level educators who have a bachelor's degree is $42,000; a master's degree is $46,000. Starting salary based upon education and prior relevant work experience.Extension educators hired with only a bachelor's degree are encouraged to work toward completion of an approved master's degree. Due to communication expectations of the position, the incumbent will be required to maintain cellular or other electronic communication device.  The incumbent's salary includes compensation to apply toward the use of their personal cellular device.

Required: Bachelor's Degree; Public administration, public policy, business, community development, financial management, agriculture economics, Urban/Rural Planning, Environmental Sustainability or a related fields of study.
No experience required. Starting salary is based upon education and prior relevant work experience.

Preferred: Master's Degree; Public administration, public policy, business, community development, financial management, agriculture economics, Urban/Rural Planning, Environmental Sustainability or a related fields of study.


Success in planning, implementing, and evaluating learning experiences for youth and/or adults in community-based, non-formal education programs is desired. Previous experience in Cooperative Extension or closely related work is desirable.
