Job Title:Global Education SpecialistDepartment:International Affairs | Education Abroad Administration

The Global Education Specialist position supports and advances the international dimension of The Ohio State University by providing professional expertise in the research, design, planning and administration of a portfolio of global education programs of high curricular relevance for Ohio State's 14 colleges and 4 regional campuses.



  • Plan, develop, administer and ensure operational excellence for global education programs; research, initiate and implement new and reoccurring academic international opportunities for Ohio State students in conjunction with college global education liaisons, departments, faculty and chairs.

  • Research and negotiate prices with travel service providers and host institutions located throughout the world, write specifications for bid-eligible programs, develop managerial budgets for assigned portfolio of programs and manage complex programmatic and fiscal arrangements with providers, host institutions and faculty directors.

  • Perform research on best practices in global education programming; concepts and trends, global competencies, and inclusive global education advising and programming. Develop and lead strategic outreach and recruitment for assigned portfolio with concentrated attention on underrepresented student populations.

  • Manage admission process, develop and deliver specialized orientation material to admitted students and faculty leaders, ensure compliance with unit and University risk, legal and fiscal expectations, monitor and troubleshoot programs while in progress while simultaneously communicating vertically and horizontally with multiple stakeholders, and respond to emergencies in accordance with established OIA and University protocols.

  • Serve as a member of the Office of International Affairs (OIA) Global Education team.





Minimum Requirements



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (must be added).

  • Advanced degree in a relevant field may be desirable.

  • 4 years of relevant experience required (must be added).

  • 4-8 years of relevant experience preferred.

Additional Information:


The Targeted Hiring Range for this position is $51,000 - $56,473.00. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
