Earned bachelor degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Training or Development, or a related field from an accredited institution, or an earned bachelor degree in any field plus teacher certification;
Experience as a PK-12 teacher or as an educator in an organization;
Experience with curriculum or program development and/or project management;
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills;
Experience in word processing, spreadsheets, and PowerPoint;
Ability to multi-task, work cooperatively with others, and build rapport quickly in a fast-paced work environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Earned master or doctoral degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, School Improvement, Educational Leadership, or a related field, from an accredited institution;
Demonstrated knowledge of culturally sustaining pedagogy, educational equity, English language learning pedagogy, or a similar framework;
Experience teaching or administrating in a high-needs school;
Spanish language proficiency;
Experience as a Bilingual Education or dual language teacher or school administrator;
Experience as a PK-12 instructional coach, team leader, assistant principal, principal and/or school district leader.
Job Description:
Responsible for managing the operation and implementation of the Hawkins Center of Excellence in Educator Preparation, providing direct support and advising to applicants and enrolled students, supervising employees, coordinating with school district and external partners, and providing oversight and direct service to achieve project goals. This is a grant funded position that is in-person on the San Marcos campus. Funding is projected to continue until August, 2029 but is dependent on funding decisions made by the federal funder (U.S. Department of Education).
Job Duties:
Coordinate school district partnerships, including shared governance meetings with the Project ADAPT partner school districts for the purposes of collaborative planning to support candidate success.
Actively recruit ADAPT candidates in partnership with ADAPT school districts, Austin Community College, and similar partners and assist with admissions processes.
Serve as a back-up for the Student Success Coach when needed to meet, refer, and follow up with students regarding general transfer planning and academic advising, questions, concerns, and needs.
Coordinate the application, awarding, and administration of need-based scholarships to candidates enrolled in the ADAPT Teacher Residency (Hawkins Fellows) and at ACC (Hawkins Scholars), including referral to the Success Coach for academic planning and/or transfer navigation.
Coordinate the application, awarding, and administration of childcare vouchers on a financial need basis for candidates taking classes in summer 2025 and 2026; and explore availability of additional childcare support options for subsequent years.
Design and implement a Professional Learning Community cohort model for ADAPT candidates.
Coordinate the distribution of practice certification exam vouchers and exam vouchers and other student support resources.
Coordinate Spanish language tutoring, including hiring tutors.
Coordinate implementation of the novice teachers' induction program, including arranging faculty expert facilitators for teaching seminars.
Facilitate implementation of Teacher Residency Mentor Teacher training, in collaboration with the Residency Director and the Office of Educator Preparation.
Facilitate annual recruitment of in-service teachers seeking Bilingual Education certification.
Schedule and support the annual faculty-led professional development process for in-service teachers seeking Bilingual Education training.
Maintain records and contribute to project reporting.
Supervise the Student Success Coach.
Represent Project ADAPT and collaborate with appropriate personnel from the College of Education Advising Center, the university Transfer Center, the COE Associate Dean for Student Success, the Office of Educator Preparation, the Curriculum and Instruction Department, Financial Aid & Scholarships, and student support services in the Division of Student Success.
Collaborate with the ADAPT PI and Co-PIs and faculty on achieving equitable success for ADAPT candidates; and function as a member of the ADAPT professional staff team by attending project staff meetings.
