Scope of Position:
The Senior Director of Performance Improvement directs and coordinates organization-wide efforts to ensure that performance improvement (PI) program is developed and implemented in support of achievement of OSUMC strategic plan. The role is responsible for developing the competencies of Performance Improvement, Measuring/Monitoring and change management across OSUWMC. Assures that organization-wide PI initiatives are focused and aligned on improving operational and program efficiencies and effectiveness; participates in organizational strategic planning and provides leadership for PI policy development; provides leadership and coordination for improving the organization's core functions and evaluating the impact that systems improvements have on the organization; and researches and develops PI training programs that focus on enabling the labor force to achieve improvements.Responsible for leading transformational change for the enabling functions including influencing senior leaders to implement process improvement and change initiatives across the healthcare platform to deliver sustainable outcomes. The individual directs, leads and oversees all performance improvement efforts across OSUWMC, this will include responsibilities for overseeing efforts of locally residing improvement resources. Responsible for developing opportunities for streamlining and creating efficiencies and developing long-term plans to accomplish the strategic initiatives of the organization in collaboration with the Chief Operations Officer; participates in strategic development and planning activities consistent with the vision, mission and strategic goals of OSUWMC.
Position Summary:
The Senior Director of Performance Improvement will oversee the identification, prioritization, quantification, project management, and success of designated quality assurance and improvement initiatives. This position will oversee and implement training programs for leadership and workforce across the medical center (including collaboration with partners including Fisher College of Business). The role will lead and oversee projects such as redesigning workflow for a department, redesigning responsibilities for a clinical role, and designing new operating models. Serves as a leader of process improvement, business project management and instructional design initiatives across the mission areas of the OSUWMC. This position will introduce and lead an environment of operational excellence and continuous improvement through principles including DMAIC, Lean Six Sigma, Change Management and Project Management concepts. In addition, this position will assist in the prioritization and management of process improvement efforts, lead and facilitate cross functional teams to improve process, identify and remove barriers that prevent successful attainment of defined goals and responsible for proactively identifying opportunities to significantly impact organizational goals. Fosters a culture of data-driven results using innovation, integration, and information to support achieving business goals. Establishes strategic relationships with executive leadership throughout the organization to develop and remove barriers, if needed, to implement program strategies that meet business, regulatory and accreditation requirements. Responsible for formulating and administering related organizational policies and procedures; manages relationships with key partners; provides consultation and advice to internal business units, as well as to external stakeholders (employers and providers). Works with senior leadership to coordinate and complete a variety of projects to ensure delivery of value-added products and services and collaborates with internal and external customers to establish superior business processes.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Operations Management, Industrial Engineering or related fields required. Twelve years of experience in performance/process improvement, change management, and DMAIC/Lean implementation. Experience managing, executing, and sustaining major change initiatives with quantifiable results partnered with project management experience. Experience leading, facilitating, and implementing Lean Six Sigma projects.
