Budget AnalystDescription/Job Summary

BCCC's Finance and Administration seeks to fill Budget Analyst positions in the Finance Department. These positions report to the Senior Analyst/Coordinator and perform a variety of complex budget tasks involved in maintaining budget records and analyzing related data, preparing, monitoring, verifying, and reconciling data. The Budget Analyst is also responsible for providing excellent customer service to departments by assisting them with their budget questions.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Prepares, reviews, and distributes monthly analysis reports using the financial database, Banner, the Financial Management Information System (FMIS), Winprism system, WinAsset system, and other information systems. These reports include, but are not limited to, revenue forecasting, capital debt analysis, periodic expenditures projections and analysis, profit and loss statements, sensitivity analysis, ad-hoc reporting, fiscal sustainability, and financial modeling reports.

  • Calculates revenue and expenditure variances for each program within the college for the purpose of advising key stakeholders on the fiscal management of their programs as it pertains to the effective allocation of appropriation, as well as the remedy of negative appropriation balances.

  • Reconciling the data with the Budget Office's database to ensure continuous synchronicity between all data sources.

  • The Budget Analyst is responsible for ensuring that Human Resources and Payroll are notified of the budgeted funding sources and updating them as directed by program finance personnel.

  • Prepares analyses of budget data, identifies trends, and determines appropriation needs as required.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

  • General knowledge of Budget and techniques in data analysis.

  • Skills in performing budgetary and financial analysis, in reviewing and processing financial documents and in reconciling financial data.

  • Ability to communicate effectively.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field

  • Three (3) years of budget experience.


  • Proficiency in the use of software applications, databases, spreadsheets and/or word processing such as Excel and Microsoft Word.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five (5) years of budget experience.
