The High Throughput Screening Core of the Medicinal Chemistry Shared Resource (HTSC-MCSR) of the OSU Comprehensive Cancer Center is looking for one Research Associate 1-B/H. This individual will be part of the team conducting operations of HTSC-MCSR and offering high throughput screening services for investigators of the cancer center.
The Research Associate 1-B/H will participate in planning, design, execution, and management of research projects in a foundational (basic) biological/health science research laboratory investigating cancer in the Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Responsibilities Include:
Develop and implement goals and objectives of studies
Design and execute complex laboratory experiments
Perform advanced molecular and cellular techniques
Collect, analyze and interpret research data
Assist with development and implementation of new and/or revised research methodologies and techniques
Test experimental designs, sampling techniques, and analytical methods and make recommendations for utilization
Assist in establishment of controls, criteria and research standards
Perform critical analysis of literature relevant to research being undertaken
Assist in the preparation of research papers and manuscripts for publication and presentation at national and conferences and workshops, and in the writing of project reports, articles and other documents
Assist principal investigators in preparation of proposals to obtain new or renewal of extramural funding in support of research
Coordinate laboratory activities and work assignments of postdoctoral researchers, graduate and undergraduate students, and laboratory research staff
Oversee and coordinate periodic maintenance and testing of laboratory equipment and perform additional duties as assigned.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate biological/health science or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required, Master's degree is preferred.
Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic and/or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research is required.
Experience in a biological/health science research capacity is preferred.
Requires successful completion of a background check; qualified candidates may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.
