The department of Humanities invites applications for a tenure-track, 9-month Assistant Professor of English position in Eagle Pass, Texas, beginning August 2025.
Required:


  • Doctorate in English is required. ABD applicants will be considered, but appointment will be at the instructor rank and all degree requirements must be completed by February I, 2026.

  • Two years of teaching experience (graduate student teaching experience accepted) in British literature or related literature field.

  • In-person teaching and advising in Eagle Pass, Texas.





Preferred:



  • We welcome applicants with experience in mentoring student leadership and nurturing experiential learning in the Humanities.


Primary Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities include the following:


  • Teaching a 4-4 course load (summer teaching opportunities) of face to face, hybrid, and online undergraduate and occasional graduate courses.

  • Courses include British literature surveys, Shakespeare, other literature courses, and advanced composition.

  • Advising students and mentoring English majors' activities and organizations.

  • Demonstrating progress in research.

  • Participating in curriculum development and assessment.

  • Engaging in service to the department, college, and university.




Position is security sensitive.


Responsible for personal safety and the safety of others; must exercise due caution and practice safe work habits at all times.
Other Information:

Texas Law requires a 60 day waiting period before eligible new state employees are eligible to enroll in health insurance.
