Department Summary


The Department of Information Technology and Decision Sciences (ITDS) is comprised of two academic disciplines, Information Systems and Management Science. The ITDS department has over 40 research and teaching faculty whose mission is to conduct cutting edge research and prepare the next generation of information systems, management science, and business analytics professionals. Our department offers degrees at the bachelor's, master's, and PhD levels. Five of our degrees are STEM-designated - BS and MS in IS and BBA, MBA, and MS in Business Analytics. We also offer PhDs in Information Systems, Management Science, and Information Assurance. ITDS has a solid track record of producing well-prepared, motivated, and, ultimately successful business professionals and academicians.



Position Overview


The Department of Information Technology & Decision Sciences seeks qualified individuals for its Adjunct Instructor Pool and welcomes applicants at any time. This posting is for the Spring 2025, and Summer 2025 semesters. The specific courses involved may vary from semester to semester and openings to teach these courses develop on a periodic basis, depending on department teaching needs.


The anticipated need is for Adjunct Instructors whose duties may include, but are not limited to teaching introductory undergraduate courses in Information Systems (IS) and Management Science/Decision Sciences/Business Analytics (MS) courses, as well as technical undergraduate and graduate courses in information security, object-oriented programming (Python and Java), information systems development, and database management. In addition, we are looking for adjunct instructors to teach BUSI 3100, a one-credit professional development course which helps student develop proficiency with MS Excel and prepares students to take an MS Excel certification exam.


An offer of employment for this position will be made dependent upon available funding.



Minimum Qualifications


Candidates for teaching undergraduate BCIS and DSCI courses (2xxx-4xxx) must possess a master's degree and at least 18 graduate credit hours in IS and/or MS or a closely related field. Teaching and/or practical experience may be required for some courses.


Candidates for teaching BUSI 3100 must possess a master's degree and at least 18 graduate credit hours in IS, MS, business administration, finance, accounting, data analytics or a closely related field and teaching and/or practical experience using MS Excel for reporting and decision making.


Candidates for teaching graduate courses require a Ph.D. in IS and/or MS or a closely related field.


Degrees must be from Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) or similarly accredited institution.



Preferred Qualifications


Terminal degree in discipline is preferred.


Work experience in the area of course taught and/or teaching experience in the field. For advanced courses, demonstrated knowledge of that area, which may be through work, teaching experience, or transcripts.
