Pay Grade/Pay Range: Minimum: $53,500 - Midpoint: $66,900 (Salaried E8)



Department/Organization: 702104 - Alabama Materials Institute



Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:45pm

Job Summary: The Research Education Program Manager plans and delivers on objectives through program development, management of daily program operations, and technical execution.



Additional Department Summary: The Alabama Materials Institute (AMI) facilitates interdisciplinary materials research encompassing metallurgy, ceramics, polymers, bio-inspired materials, and composites. Teams of researchers, faculty, and students work collaboratively to identify and advance new materials, understand their fundamental properties, and develop novel processes for synthesis, fabrication, and manufacturing using advanced experimental and computational approaches.


Prepares proposals, manages all (non-technical) aspects of research education, workforce development, and related outreach proposal and project deliverables, activities, workshops, seminars, etc., and collects and presents data related to the program, including evaluation and continuous improvement.



Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree and five (5) years of experience in research program coordination and/or the development, design, implementation, and management of such programs; OR bachelor's degree and ten (10) years of experience in research program coordination and/or the development, design, implementation, and management of such programs.



Skills and Knowledge: Proposal development; grant writing; report writing; program creation, evaluation, and continuous improvement; maintaining stakeholder relationships; and the ability to conduct research and analyze results.



Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree and a background in academic research, instructional design, and/or continuing education/lifelong learning.
