Job Description:

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Supervise the warehousing activities for a three-shift operation.

  • Develop an atmosphere of employee involvement and continuous improvement.

  • Ensure that all transactions are recorded properly to maintain the highest levels of inventory accuracy.

  • Establish standard receiving procedures that ensure same day check-in and put-away.

  • Establish standard picking procedures that ensure the parts are picked on time and the usage recorded properly.

  • Establish standard shipping procedures that ensure on-time delivery to both internal and external customers.

  • Properly staff, equip, train and cross-train warehouse and material handling personnel.

  • Make sure shipping errors are eliminated and all shipments are properly transacted.

  • Effectively plan manpower and overtime to ensure deliveries are met with the least amount of actual hours.

  • Promote the growth and development of production employees – guide, coach, appraise and discipline employees as appropriate.

  • Conduct regular department employee meetings.

  • Ensure good housekeeping and safety through regular safety meetings and implementation of an on-going 5S program.

  • Work closely with other departments to ensure the best possible service and inventory accuracy.

 

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:


  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in warehouse management.

  • Must have leadership/supervisory experience.

  • Good understanding of MRP and related planning, scheduling and inventory control systems.

  • Good understanding of JDE and kitting program.

  • Good understanding of the Kanban system.

  • Must be well organized and have good communication and leadership skills with a proven track record of problem solving and cost management.

  • Must be able to read blueprints, schematics, and bills of material.

  • Good oral and written communication skills.

  • Must have good computer skills.

  • Good interpersonal skills.

 

EDUCATION REQUIRED: High school diploma or equivalent is required.  Bachelor's degree is preferred
