BHS North America is seeking an IT Support Specialist to join our growing team in our Charlotte, NC facility! This is an on-site position requiring up to 20% travel.
Job Description:
An IT Specialist with a focus on networking and infrastructure plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of an organization's IT infrastructure, particularly concerning networking, Azure cloud computing, Cisco Storage Server, switches, and TCP/IP. They provide technical assistance and support to computer systems, software, and hardware, with a strong emphasis on resolving networking-related issues and maintaining network security. This is an on-site position requiring up to 20% travel.
Job Responsibilities:
Diagnosing and resolving technical issues related to hardware, software, and network systems, with an emphasis on networking components such as Cisco switches and TCP/IP configurations.
Assisting end-users by responding to inquiries and providing technical support, particularly in troubleshooting network connectivity problems and Cisco-related issues.
Installing, configuring, and maintaining computer hardware, software, and peripheral devices, ensuring compatibility and security with a focus on networking requirements.
Monitoring and maintaining virtual servers as part of the VMware Hypervisor environment, with a focus on network performance and connectivity.
Performing routine maintenance tasks such as system backups, software updates, and security patches, with special attention to network security measures.
Conducting training sessions or creating user guides to educate employees on network protocols, hardware devices, and IT policies.
Documenting and tracking customer issues, resolutions, system configurations, and troubleshooting steps, particularly focusing on network-related incidents.
Creating and maintaining knowledge base articles and technical documentation related to networking infrastructure for future reference and troubleshooting purposes.
Implementing and enforcing security protocols to protect the organization's network and data from potential threats, including monitoring network activity and implementing access controls.
Collaborating with other IT professionals to address complex technical issues and implement network improvements.
Monitor network performance, security, and implement measures to ensure optimal functionality.
Provide onboarding support to new users and address ongoing software and hardware issues in a timely manner.
Document network configurations, changes, and troubleshooting steps for future reference.
Maintain inventory of IT assets and assist with procurement as needed.
Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to recommend improvements.
Participate in disaster recovery planning and implementation.
Assist in training staff on IT policies and best practices.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Proven experience as an IT Specialist or in a similar role.
Minimum 4-7 years of experience within IT field.
Hands-on knowledge of Cisco networking technologies (CCNA certification preferred).
Familiarity with network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.) and security practices.
Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems.
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Relevant certifications (CompTIA A+, Network+, etc.) are a plus.
Strong technical knowledge in areas such as operating systems, networks, hardware, virtual environments, software applications and troubleshooting methodologies.
Results driven attitude with the initiative to take on new responsibilities and independently manage assigned projects.
Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines; flexible and quickly adaptable to changing priorities; demonstrated problem-solving skills; ability to handle a large volume of tickets.
Minimum 3 years' experience - Server Hardware Technologies (CPU/RAID/SCSI)
Minimum 3 years' experience - Data Backup and Recovery Support, Corporate Antivirus
Experience with MDM, using InTune and Jamf and VMWare vCenter.
Experience with Cisco Systems and Switches, including managing Cisco Call Manager & Jabber.
Experience with JIRA Service Management (Ticketing system) preferred.
Experience with PC imaging solutions and software packaging & deployment (Windows Laptops & Apple iPhones and iPads).
Experience with improving Onboarding and Offboarding processes
Experience handling support requests/escalations in a high-level technical support role, particularly focusing on networking issues.
Experience with Patching, Threat Locker, Business Continuity, and Backups.
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues arising from user and hardware related issues, with an emphasis on networking components.
Demonstrate problem-solving analytical, documentation, and oral communication skills.
Physical Working Demands:
Must be able to read, write understand and communicate by phone using the English Language.
Ability to sit for long periods of time (3-4 hours at a time).
Must be able to lift and maneuver weights up to 50 pounds.
Salary and Benefits:
This is a full-time position offering $80k to $85k + full benefits as seen below!
