What you'll be doing:
Manage tax, safety, and workers' compensation policy committees, including monitoring state legislation and administrative actions, and developing policy recommendations with members and senior staff.
Develop and maintain relationships with key policymakers, following relevant thought leadership and creating communications such as letters and testimony.
Plan and conduct quarterly member meetings, including preparing committee documents and recruiting relevant speakers.
Oversee issue areas including food and beverage, trade, transportation, aviation and aerospace, and building codes policy on behalf of membership.
Support the managing director on assigned policy issues, including human resources, labor relations, economic development, business law, and health care.
Manage selected federal issues, reviewing and monitoring federal actions within assigned areas and developing related communications content.
Create content for publications and the organization's website related to assigned issue areas.
Cultivate productive relationships with industry peers and provide leadership to industry coalitions with aligned objectives.
Ensure compliance with Joint Legislative Ethics Committee requirements and assist with PAC reporting.
Collaborate with the PAC Chair and managing director on fundraising efforts, including organizing PAC events, soliciting donations, identifying potential donors, and implementing - strategies to boost PAC engagement and contributions.
Who we're looking for:
Must be a registered lobbyist and have completed the LSC fellowship program
Experience with campaign and elections
Analytic skills used to interpret public policy events and their effect on the manufacturing industry
Verbal and written communication skills. Competent in in-person meetings, public speaking, and written communication, including newsletters, letters, and testimony. Ability to tailor audience-specific content
Knowledge of state regulations regarding Joint Legislative Ethics Committee compliance
Understanding of key lawmaking processes including those associated with: state legislative, state administrative, PUCO, federal administrative and federal legislative
Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills
Familiarity with business and employers issues related to assigned policy issue areas
