The Director of Total Rewards is at the helm of driving innovation and leading the charge on the compensation, benefits, wellness, and recognition strategies that empower our people and fuel the growth of our dynamic brands. This role reports to the Chief People Officer and directly supervises a Total Rewards Analyst, an HR Business Partner, and the HR/Technology Services Representatives. Your leadership will be key to fostering a high-performance culture and aligning our total rewards strategies with business goals, while also empowering and developing your team.
This role requires a forward-thinking mindset and willingness to solve complex challenges, influence through innovation, and create meaningful employee experiences in a high-energy, multi-unit retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
Total Rewards Strategy and Innovation:
Design, implement, and continuously evolve cutting-edge Total Rewards strategies, blending compensation, benefits, incentive plans, recognition, and wellness to drive market competitiveness, employee engagement, with an eye on cost-effectiveness.
Lead the team in creating Total Rewards programs that aren't just in line with broader company vision and objectives but are trailblazers, helping us retain top talent while ensuring programs are equitable, aligned with our mission, and tailored to our diverse workforce.
Work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to evaluate industry trends, external competitiveness, and internal equity, and continuously innovate programs that elevate the employee experience while ensuring legal compliance of the programs.
Compensation Management & Administration:
Take ownership of the design, administration, and communication of competitive salary structures, incentive programs, and executive compensation strategies that reflect our culture of leadership, performance, and accountability.
Conduct in-depth market analyses and benchmarking to stay ahead of trends, adjusting pay practices to maintain equity and ensure a competitive edge in talent attraction and retention.
Oversee all compensation processes, from job evaluations and salary surveys to annual compensation reviews, ensuring each decision is data-driven, transparent, and aligned with our growth objectives.
Administer executive compensation and ownership plans, serving as a resource to Senior Leaders and Board Members.
Serve as an expert on compensation issues such as internal/external job analysis, salary structure challenges, annual merit/market review, special pay practices, incentive programs, etc. including budgetary impact.
Benefits & Wellness Management:
Curate and oversee innovative, cost-effective benefits programs that reflect the company's commitment to the health, wellness, and financial security of our people. From health plans to retirement strategies, you'll continuously evaluate the landscape to ensure we're offering the best to our people.
Lead the annual benefits renewal process and open enrollment communications, ensuring clarity and employee engagement in every aspect of our benefits offerings.
Foster a culture of wellbeing, conducting regular performance analyses to identify new opportunities to improve team member health and reduce costs.
People Business Partnership & Leadership Development:
Guide and influence leaders across our Denver Support Center to ensure the success of HR initiatives, talent management, workforce planning, and organizational development-driving high performance and accountability at every level.
Lead change management initiatives, ensuring smooth transitions and fostering a culture of open communication and adaptability.
Collaborate with the talent acquisition team to support the recruitment of top talent for the Support Center, including partnership in selection and onboarding processes.
Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, ensuring HR practices reflect our commitment to building an inclusive workplace that attracts diverse talent.
Act as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor to senior leadership, offering insights into total rewards best practices and aligning compensation and benefits strategies with broader organizational goals.
Talent & Performance Management:
Partner with the Chief People Officer to continuously refine and optimize performance management processes that inspire a high-performance culture, accountability, and ownership.
Lead and execute Talent and Performance Reviews, ensuring clear communication, effective calibration, and thoughtful merit and market adjustments that reward performance and drive results.
Create feedback loops to ensure our performance management systems are continually evolving to meet the needs of our people and the business.
Employee Experience & Communication:
Design and deliver creative, engaging communication strategies that make the company's total rewards offerings come to life, ensuring employees understand and value their benefits.
Lead initiatives that elevate the employee experience, from onboarding to ongoing engagement, enhancing understanding of how our rewards programs drive individual and collective success.
The Candidate
Experience and Professional Qualifications
Required:
10+ years of Human Resources experience, including deep subject matter experience in healthcare plan, in- depth compensation and executive compensation program design and managing benefits programs.
Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience required.
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business or related field required. Master's Degree in related field.
