Description of Position: Searching for a self-motivated individual to plan and coordinate integrated kinetic and non-kinetic effects into plans, policies, operations, and exercise across all event horizons that cross areas of responsibility or that directly support USSPACECOM objectives.

Position Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Provide joint fires planning expertise in support of strategic and operational planning in USSPACECOM mission areas to create multi-domain effects on targets to achieve CCMD objectives.
  • Reviews and develops various plans and documents involving space operations. Develop and assesses space plans and alternative courses of action (COA) based on current and emerging capabilities, threats, and policy regarding mission requirements.
  • Provide expert space and operational related advice and assistance to DoD and non-DoD agencies involved in National Defense.
  • Lead or participate in planning working groups, apply space planning, decision-making, influence, data harvesting, analysis, correlation, and virtual collaboration to support space operations strategies and plan development.
  • Serves as team lead of professionals in performing analysis of space issues of advanced difficulty and complexity.
  • Develops assumptions, measures of effectiveness, and evaluate changes to tactics, techniques, and procedures to meet mission objectives.
  • Define problems, compile/organize, and analyze data in coordination with varied levels of expertise and disciplines. Coordinate directly with geographic combatant commands to ensure USSPACECOM targeting equities are represented.
  • Integrate with other combatant command joint fires elements to maximize effectiveness of USSPACECOM capabilities in support of geographic combatant commander's operations.

Key Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of joint war fighting doctrine, unified combatant command structure, and global command and control constructs.
  • Knowledge of Adaptive Planning and Execution (APEX) process, the Joint Planning Process (JPP), and development of operational plans and orders.
  • Ability to participate in operational planning teams, participate in operational assessment groups and modify existing orders to affect ongoing operations.
  • Ability to independently execute projects and/or studies within established time constraints.
  • Skilled in effective communication, both orally and in writing; articulate complex issues; and maintain good working relations.
  • Ability to lead study teams; originate new ideas, projects, and methodologies.

Qualification Requirements:
  • Applicants must have at experience at the next lower grade level/pay band, or equivalent in other pay systems in demonstrating expert knowledge and skill in applying analytical/evaluative methods and techniques to issues or studies concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of operations for development and/or improvement of critical command plans and readiness for conducting major operations such as war, mobilization, mission and flying operations, deployment, acquisition, special operations, space operations or similar; advanced knowledge of military command structure, missions, programs, and organizational relationships and program goals and objectives, the sequence and timing of key operational events and milestones, and methods of evaluating the effectiveness of planning actions as related to actual events; and comprehensive knowledge of the various command entities involved in overall planning and execution of operations and evaluations.
  • This occupational series does not have an education qualification requirement, however, Bachelor degree in Political Science, Space Operations, Organizational Structure/Efficiency, or other related fields is highly desired. Masters degree or Ph.D. preferred.

  • Position requires a Top Secret/SCI security clearance to fully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.
  • Selectee will be required to obtain and maintain approval to access the portfolio of Special Access Programs required to perform daily duties.

  • May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments.
