A leading shipbuilding and repair company is seeking a Quality Manager to oversee the Quality Assurance Program and all related functions. This role provides leadership and direction, establishing a quality strategy aligned with company culture.
The Quality Manager will have the following responsibilities:
Mentor and lead the division quality team; develop training programs for quality personnel.
Review quality requirements and develop pricing or cost estimates for bid proposals.
Review and approve procedures, oversee audit operations and projects to ensure compliance with regulatory, customer, and company requirements.
Provide written and verbal briefings to Executive Management.
Coordinate with department leads to ensure the effectiveness of quality programs in accordance with industry best practices.
Prepare quarterly reports and review trend analysis for continuous improvement.
Ensure vendors are managed according to QA program and contract requirements, and that purchase documents accurately reflect these and other flowdown requirements.
Advise executive management on resolving quality concerns and correcting deficiencies.
Recognize, report, and resolve safety issues to maintain a safe work environment.
The ideal Quality Manager candidate will have the following skillset:
High School Diploma required; Bachelor's Degree in related technical field preferred
Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in quality assurance.
Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience.
Strong understanding of and experience meeting American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) standards.
Experience working in an ISO 9001 certified facility; familiarity with ISO 9001 requirements
Ability to proactively plan, set, communicate, and track progress towards goals and milestones.
Effective presentation skills and the ability to respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and employees.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to achieve results by influencing others.
Critical thinking skills for scheduling activities, resolving problems, performing root-cause analysis, and measuring quality performance throughout projects.
Proficiency in MS Office, Adobe, and other job-related software.
Ability to recognize and resolve unsafe working conditions.
