Overview
The primary responsibility for the Project Manager is to ensure projects deliver the guaranteed savings. This will require overseeing the execution of Energy as a Service Monitoring-Based Commissioning (MBCx) program. The Project Manager is responsible for the entire life cycle of a project from inception through closure. The Project Manager shall ensure that the project is delivered efficiently and effectively in accordance with agreed budget, schedule, quality and exceed the client's expectations. This position will support the team delivering MBCx (Monitoring Based Commissioning) and M&V (Measurement and Verification) activities through deploying data collection equipment and performing ongoing monitoring and solution identification in facilities. The ideal candidate will bring a technical expertise, problem solving, accountability for deliverables and finances, and continuous process improvement.
Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities include:
Managing engineering teams to ensure project objectives are met
Managing the interactions between the M&V team and the MBCx team to focus engineering efforts on the projects that need increased energy savings
Coordinating monthly meetings and responsibility for report deliveries
Overseeing client follow-up for action items
Working with client and Bernhard engineers to get recommendations accomplished
Tracking current jobs while also supporting projections for future staffing requirements
Reviewing contracts, drawings, specifications, and/or other resources to answer questions.
Working with the client (internal or external) to define the project scope, schedule, deliverables, risks and expectations that are considered to deliver a successful project
Coordinating job set-up, project administration and closeout
Developing an internal Work Plan to define revenue, hours budget, internal cost budget, travel budget, sub consultant budget and estimate reimbursable amounts.
Scheduling the project tasks and resources to ensure the agreed upon schedule is met within the budget constraints established
Ensure the revenue and budget estimates are entered into the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to accurately reflect the execution of the project.
Work with Leadership to ensure the project is correctly resourced per the established budgets and schedule
Establish a project Kick Off meeting and ensure all team members are communicated to effectively throughout the course of the project
Continuously track and report project execution against budget in terms of schedule adherence, deliverables, cost and revenue
Manage the client expectations and ensure regular updates are effectively communicated throughout the duration of the project
Participating in relevant organizations for networking and professional development.
Developing or improving processes and templates
Qualifications
Required Education, Experience and Qualifications
5+ Years of experience in one of the following sectors: Engineering, Construction, Facilities Management, or Energy.
Knowledge of Project Management through a college degree or equivalent work experience
required
Demonstrated experience to lead and manage a team of technical staff.
Demonstrated experience with strong analytical, organizational and planning skills
Strong knowledge of Microsoft O365 platform (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Ability to use multiple software platforms including financial software and project management software
Effective working in a collaborative team environment
Preferred Education, Experience and Qualifications
Baccalaureate Degree in a Technical discipline, Engineering degree, Construction Management or related field.
Professional Engineering (PE) license.
Preferred experience in controls discipline.
Preferred experience in the construction sector.
Preferred experience in facilities management.
Preferred experience in the energy sector.
The Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP) qualification.
Ability to interpret engineering documents and drawings and understand construction contract requirements.
Has successfully completed Bernhard Project Management training if an internal candidate.
Travel Requirements
This position is expected to have regular travel requirements of a few days every month.
