Job Scope:
We are seeking an experienced Senior HVAC Mechanical Engineer to join our team, focusing on the design and production of HVAC construction documents for computer rooms, machine shops, electronics labs, and various administrative areas. This role involves collaborating with clients, consultants, and senior engineers to deliver high-quality HVAC solutions and construction documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
Work with consultants, clients, senior engineers, and contractors to develop and document HVAC design goals, criteria, and concepts.
Analyze and troubleshoot existing HVAC systems and equipment.
Perform HVAC load calculations, air and water pressure drop calculations, and other essential design analyses.
Develop HVAC design concepts into detailed construction documents, ensuring compliance with design goals and standards.
Conduct existing condition surveys for renovation projects.
Manage construction administration duties, including site visits, generating reports, reviewing shop drawings, and responding to contractor RFIs.
Interface with clients and attend regular meetings to review design progress and requirements.
Stay current on emerging HVAC technologies, industry standards, and codes, particularly for data center and critical infrastructure environments.
Coordinate with clients, engineers, architects, contractors, and consultants to address mechanical requirements and develop efficient HVAC designs.
Maintain strong record-keeping practices and effective follow-through on project tasks.
Qualifications:
Licensure: An active Professional Engineer (PE) license in any state is required, with the ability to obtain licensure in MD and NJ.
Experience: 8-10 years of HVAC engineering and design experience, with a strong background in the design and analysis of HVAC systems for computer rooms, electronic labs, chilled/heating water systems, and VAV systems.
Security Clearance: While a security clearance is not required initially, the successful candidate will need to obtain a TS-SCI clearance in the future.
Software: Working knowledge of AutoCAD is preferred but not required.
Communication Skills: Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and issues clearly to clients and team members.
