Our food manufacturing client is seeking a highly skilled Purchasing Supervisor to lead their procurement operations, drive cost efficiencies, and ensure a seamless supply chain. This pivotal role involves managing supplier relationships, optimizing procurement strategies, and maintaining compliance while upholding the highest standards of quality and cost-effectiveness.
This role is onsite in McMinnville, Oregon.
Purchasing Supervisor Responsibilities
Oversee supplier management, contracts, and supplier performance.
Develop and execute procurement strategies, collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline procurement processes.
Oversee the day-to-day activities of the procurement team including supervising direct reports.
Forecast demand for raw materials and supplies, track market trends and pricing fluctuations to mitigate risks and optimize costs.
Ensure timely purchasing of materials in accordance with production plans.
Create and manage procurement budgets and implement strategic cost-saving measures.
Ensure all procured materials meet regulatory and quality compliance standards.
Identify and mitigate supply chain risks through strategic planning and supplier diversification.
Purchasing Supervisor Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications are a plus.
Proven experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management, preferably within the food manufacturing industry.
Strong knowledge of food safety and quality standards.
Proficiency in SAP and other procurement tools/software.
Exceptional negotiation skills with the ability to foster strong supplier relationships.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and lead teams effectively.
