Our dynamic and growing client in Saginaw, Michigan is seeking a multifaceted, servant leader Purchasing Supervisor to join the Company. The Purchasing Supervisor role is vital to managing the day-to-day tactical purchasing duties and championing the strategic duties to support their client's needs, along with the strategic needs of the Company. The Company serves multiple industries and service lines and has successfully in been in business for the past twenty years expanding throughout Michigan and into additional states.

The Purchasing Supervisor candidate needs to possess a keen business acumen and enjoys guiding a busy purchasing department. This role directs and supervises 3 purchasing department associates and reports to the CFO. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, with a good sense of humor, the drive to succeed, and possesses the ability to manage demanding supplier and customer situations.
This is a full-time onsite role, with some rotating on-call responsibilities. Qualified, interested candidates should apply directly to our posting for consideration. Strongly prefer candidates in the Michigan market.
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
Develops, leads, facilitates, and executes purchasing initiatives relative to Facilities Management and the Manufacturing Industry
Supervises supplier quality and delivery performance, supplier relations, timely resolution of problems and cost competitiveness.
Suggests and determines low-cost sourcing consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required scopes of work.
Evaluates procurement methods and recommends new procedures, strategies and/or suppliers.
Performs due diligence and assessment of prospective suppliers, executing RFPs/RFIs, negotiating contracts and ensuring effective transition of executed contracts.
Analyzes pricing proposals, financial reports, and other data to determine the reasonability of price compared to scope and contractor capabilities to perform.
Supports preparation and quoting of new business. Develops and Implements procurement strategies.
Assist in determining long and short-term strategy for the purchasing department.
Provides clear leadership to enforce and promote an ethical commitment to policies and procedures and treatment of suppliers.
Champions procedures, preventative maintenance, and major repairs on facility equipment
Manages inventory of common parts, small tools, power tools and misc. maintenance items.
Manage, schedule and coordinate repairs, preventative maintenance, and inspections.
Supervises associates including items such as hiring, terminations, disciplinary actions, coordinating training and development, work assignments, and managing attendance.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree in business management, supply chain management, purchasing or a related field.
Minimum three (3) years' previous experience in purchasing or sourcing, preferably in a manufacturing facility.
Previous supervisory experience, preferably in a leadership role
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
Excellent analytical, problem solving and facilitation skills.
Demonstrated leadership and communication skills to effectively lead, mentor, and facilitate staff.
Self-starter, able to work with or lead cross-functional teams.
Must be willing to travel to offsite locations to meet with customers, suppliers, and site management.
Strong time management skills that require little supervision
Ability to work under deadlines and focus on multiple projects and identify and resolve issues, as necessary.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite and with other CRM related systems
The ability to travel up to 25% locally in the Saginaw and greater Michigan areas.
