Furbish is a leading provider of Furnish, Install, and Maintenance services for living roofs, living walls, and other ecological building systems. Our Sales and Estimating team play a pivotal role in transforming leads into successful contracts, primarily focused on fixed-price agreements. This process commences with lead identification and culminates in contract awards, subsequently handed over to our Project Management team. Our Sales & Estimating department excels in creating an exceptional customer experience by showcasing their expertise and delivering a personalized and responsive approach.
The Estimator plays a crucial role in our Sales and Estimating function. They are responsible for maintaining prospect files, identifying leads, reviewing plans and specifications, generating take-offs, and assisting with proposal preparation. This role is essential in facilitating a seamless process from lead identification to contract closure, maximizing the efficiency of our Sales and Estimating personnel.
Essential Functions and Duties
Maintain prospect files and documentation in an organized manner.
Identify leads and enter lead information into our sales tracking/estimating software.
Review plans and specifications, highlighting key details for estimating.
Assist in the lead qualification process as requested by Manager of Estimating.
Generate take-offs using software tools as requested.
Maintain technical data, project references, and marketing material for sales efforts.
Distribute proposals and follow up on their submissions.
Manage bid boards and lead databases to identify potential projects.
Assist with project coordination and logistics.
Update the Items Catalog in our database.
Maintain documentation related to operations and safety.
Qualify and generate accurate take-offs and proposals.
Maintain accurate data in our estimating and sales cycle records.
Generate a backlog in excess of targets.
Solicit feedback from install crews and PM to refine pricing and assumptions.
Leverage industry relationships to enhance business outcomes.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience with commercial construction estimating required; knowledge of green roofs highly desired, familiarity with different brands is a plus.
Understanding of project management and ability to interact with PMs.
Proficiency in spreadsheet software (Excel or equivalent).
Electronic drawing/takeoff capabilities; familiarity with software tools such as Planswift and LMN is preferred.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
College education is preferred but not required; on-the-job experience is highly valued.
Entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for making deals, generating profit, and building lasting relationships.

In-person role at the Baltimore office.
