Responsible for the purchases of Rubber Compound, Rubber Mixing Ingredients and Plastic Resins.
Must understand market cost drivers, manufacturing practices and methods within the specified commodities.
Support implementation of the plan to achieve present and long-range material cost goals
Oversee and/or lead the preparation of negotiation strategies and supplier negotiations
Ensure Buyers demonstrate required competencies (for example - problem solving, negotiation skills, analysis of quotes).
Establish and maintain program team relationships both globally and locally.
Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities relating to the product, process and system.
Develop new suppliers
Review and finalize all sourcing recommendations of the program buyers
Lowering BOM costs, reducing costs through product development phase by managing design changes and reducing costs after SOP with VA/VE and commercial cost reductions.
Alignment of customer requirements across the supply base.
Develop material value driver projects
Create Commodity strategies
Creating supplier strategies. (working with engineering & program buyers to execute the strategy on new business)
New supplier development
Ensuring the best cost for new business opportunities.
Managing supplier negotiations
Ensure compliance with purchasing policies and procedures.
Willingness to roll sleeves up and do all jobs from the basic to the complex.
Position requires a minimum of a Bachelors degree.
Must have a strong background in industrial purchasing methods, theories and legal aspects of the job with a minimum of 5 years' purchasing and supervisory experience.
Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.Demonstrated ability to promote supplier relations, cost analysis and a proven negotiator.
Must be proficient with MRP systems, MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint
Professional certification such as CPM or CPIM are desirable.
