Job Description:

Our client is seeking a Community Outreach Associate to join their team in various Brooklyn neighborhoods! As a Community Outreach Associate, your primary responsibility will be to support Student Recruitment efforts by raising brand awareness of Ascend Public Charter Schools in the neighborhoods of Flatbush, Cypress Hills, and East Brooklyn.

  • 20-25 hours. (flex with hours but need to be the same schedule weekly)
  • This position is primarily remote but will require days to go into their Brooklyn office - MUST LIVE IN GREATER NY TRI STATE AREA
  • Pay rate: $20 per hour
  • Hours: 11:00AM - 6:00PM (Mon - Fri.)
  • Must be bilingual Spanish

Responsibilities:

  • Call or email the neighborhoods where schools operate to promote to residents and businesses (cold calling and lead follow ups involved)
  • Liaise with and foster relationships between neighborhood daycares, 3K/UPK programs, afterschool programs and school leaders, supporting both parties in building long-lasting partnerships and cultivating a strong pipeline of new students
  • Participate in phone banking outreach initiatives designed to cultivate potential leads
  • Provide an excellent customer service experience in all interactions with schools, community based organizations and potential leads
  • Expertly guide interested families through the application process in person, by phone or online demonstrating deep knowledge of practices and processes
  • Foster and maintain relationships with community-based organizations in the neighborhoods that we serve through regular in-person, phone-based and email communications

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required
  • Bilingual or strong Sylheti, Spanish, or Haitian Creole language skills required
  • A "can do" attitude and the enthusiasm to be a hard-working, self-starting team player
  • Flexible work schedule with evenings and weekends available
  • A positive, authentic, and responsive approach to building trust with members of the community including children, parents, small business partners and staff at all times
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • An openness to receiving and implementing feedback
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with competing deadlines successfully
  • Must have access to reliable wifi during working hours
  • Must be able to work EST hours presented
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Systems and Google Suite
