This position supports a research team developing and evaluating novel plant breeding methods. With guidance from a supervisor, the successful candidate would support plant tissue culture research activities. This person will coordinate with various team members to accomplish such efforts.
Responsibilities:
Assist with creating, executing, and scoring results supporting research team needs, including but not limited to:
processing samples under sterile lab conditions
measuring, imaging, and analyzing experimental results
coordinating sampling and preparing of samples as needed
Execute plant tissue culture work including aspects of plant transformation, plant propagation, and conduct analytical assays of plant tissue samples as needed.
Work in and maintain a safe work environment; includes using aseptic, sterile techniques
Document experimental details with ability to analyze data and interpret results
Recording pertinent information in proprietary and standard software applications
Qualifications:
Ideal candidate has an Associate or Bachelor's degree in the biological sciences, preferably with industry-related experience or equivalent amount of relevant education and experience.
Plant transformation experience in classroom or industry setting is highly desirable
Problem solving skills are required.
Attention to detail and ability to stay focused while performing repetitive tasks is required
Ability to work well with teams, as well as the ability to work independently is required
Excellent written/verbal communication and organizational skills are required
Self-motivated and goal-oriented person with excellent work ethics and time management.
