Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced and skilled Supervisor Butcher to oversee daily operations in our meat processing facility. The ideal candidate will have expertise in meat cutting, processing, and handling, along with leadership skills to manage a team effectively. The Supervisor Butcher will be responsible for ensuring the quality, safety, and efficiency of meat processing while adhering to all health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise Meat Cutting and Processing:
Lead a team of butchers in cutting, deboning, and trimming meat products according to specifications.
Oversee the proper handling and storage of meat products to maintain freshness and quality.
Ensure meat cutting is done efficiently and in line with company standards.
Quality Control:
Inspect all meat products for quality, ensuring they meet company and industry standards.
Maintain consistent cuts and portion sizes, adjusting as necessary to meet customer specifications.
Address and resolve any quality issues immediately to ensure compliance.
Team Leadership and Training:
Supervise and mentor butchers, providing guidance and training on cutting techniques, equipment use, and safety practices.
Schedule and delegate tasks to ensure production goals are met in a timely manner.
Promote teamwork and a positive work environment to maintain employee morale and productivity.
Safety and Compliance:
Enforce adherence to health and safety regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and proper sanitation practices.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal meat processing laws and food safety regulations.
Conduct safety inspections and implement corrective actions when necessary.
Equipment Maintenance:
Oversee the maintenance and proper operation of meat cutting equipment, ensuring all tools are in good working condition.
Report any issues with equipment or machinery to management for timely repairs.
Requirements:
Proven experience as a butcher, with advanced cutting and meat processing skills.
Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role is preferred.
In-depth knowledge of meat cuts, deboning, trimming, and portioning.
Familiarity with meat processing equipment, knives, and tools.
Strong understanding of health and safety regulations in the meat processing industry.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment.
Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, if required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in meat cutting or related field (e.g., HACCP, ServSafe).
Experience with inventory management and scheduling.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 50 lbs).
