Media Relations Director supports our business and its various clients to develop and implement marketing strategies to secure earned and paid media opportunities. This person will report to and work closely with VP Media Relations to create new pr content, grow relationships with media/publishers, pursue/secure/coordinate interviews and resulting news coverage on client's behalf. The Media Relations Director will also create and execute our media programs, ensuring programs are successful. They will monitor coverage and ensure successes are shared with clients, creating and presenting reports that summarize work.
Essential functions
Work with account team and clients to develop, support and manage public relation campaigns and media programs
Researching, copywriting and distribution of press releases
Build and update pr contact lists, distribution lists, database lists
Develop and manage relationships and opportunities with key media sources
Monitor/report both paid and earned media, compilation and creation of reports
Support and implement other PR activities such as trade show activity and event planning
Research media landscape, monitor trends
Competency
The Media Relations Director must be organized, incredibly detail-oriented and self-motivated, with great follow-through. They must be creative, energetic and articulate, a skilled writer, and eager to learn while working in a fast-paced, growing agency. Solid understanding of all facets of marketing, including internal and external communication strategies and tactical execution are necessary to help team create and deliver strategic marketing solutions.
Required experience, education and qualifications • College degree, PR/communications major • Minimum three year agency experience • Excellent communication skills-both written and verbal • Attention to detail with ability to multi-task and manage many projects • Excellent time management skills • Team Player
Supervisory responsibilities
Media Relation interns and acts as a liaison between all appropriate internal team members and external contacts to facilitate successful results.
