Vaco is actively seeking a Technical Support Consultant for a long-term opportunity with an internationally respected manufacturer in Savannah.
NOTE: This position will provide intermittent support (approximately 10 to 15 hours per week) after training. It is anticipated the workload will continue to increase and ultimately transition to a permanent full-time position.
Position Summary In this role, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive support for PCs, peripherals, and network systems within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will work closely with both end users and cross-functional teams to ensure the seamless operation of computer systems, software, and hardware across the company.
Key Responsibilities:
PC and Hardware Support: Install, configure, and maintain desktop PCs, laptops, and peripheral devices (e.g., printers, scanners, monitors). Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues, ensuring minimal downtime for production and administrative teams. Perform regular maintenance, upgrades, and patching on desktop systems to ensure they meet security and functionality requirements.
Software Support: Provide technical support for operating systems, office applications, and custom software used in the manufacturing environment. Assist users with software installation, updates, and configuration. Troubleshoot application-related issues and escalate complex issues to relevant teams or vendors when necessary.
Network and Connectivity: Support and troubleshoot wired and wireless network connectivity issues, including printers, scanners, and other devices on the network. Coordinate with the network administration team to resolve any network issues affecting productivity.
End-User Support: Serve as the first point of contact for employees seeking technical assistance, providing courteous and timely support via in-person, phone, or remote desktop tools. Document and prioritize support requests in the helpdesk ticketing system. Assist users with hardware setup and configuration for new hires and provide training on systems and applications as needed.
Incident Management & Troubleshooting: Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve technical problems efficiently while minimizing disruption to business operations. Maintain a detailed log of technical issues and resolutions. Escalate issues as needed to management, appropriate technical teams, or third-party vendors.
Manufacturing Environment Support: Provide support for systems and technology used in the manufacturing environment. Ensure critical production systems are functional and promptly address any technical failures that may impact manufacturing operations.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Minimum of 2-3 years of technical support experience, particularly in desktop support and network troubleshooting.
Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is a plus.
Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems and troubleshooting techniques.
Experience with network configurations, TCP/IP, and wireless connectivity troubleshooting.
Proficiency in supporting desktop applications and software.
Basic knowledge of peripheral devices and office hardware (printers, scanners, monitors).
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and move computer equipment (e.g., desktops, monitors) up to 30 pounds.
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with occasional exposure to machinery and factory settings.
Occasional after-hours support may be required to address urgent issues or system downtime.
