Position Summary: The CADD Specialist will be a key team member responsible for the management of design and construction drawings, and the program's CADD data platform. This role is central to the operations and maintenance of the Rail and Operations Delivery Branch, part of the California High-Speed Rail Authority's Office of Program Delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Produce project design deliverables such as layouts, grading, drainage designs, and construction plans.
Manage and coordinate CADD assignments for the Rail and Operations Delivery Branch.
Perform 2D and 3D model development, updating plans based on design changes, and redlining.
Evaluate proposed site plans, offering recommendations to align with project requirements.
Ensure adherence to standard engineering principles, project compliance standards, and quality procedures.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to maintain design quality and timely production.
Qualifications:
Associate degree in Computer Aided Design, Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience.
7+ years of experience in producing rail design deliverables using CAD applications.
Proficiency with Civil 3D, AutoCAD, MicroStation, InRoads, and OpenRail Designer.
Experience implementing US DOT, FRA, or client-specific CAD standards.
Familiarity with BIM processes and tools such as Bentley ProjectWise and Autodesk Construction Cloud.
Strong communication, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently.
Knowledge of engineering work processes and document control systems like SharePoint.
Desirable Attributes:
Expertise in model-based design software (Inroads, Revit, Civil 3D).
Proven ability to manage digital coordination efforts across disciplines.
Leadership and teamwork capabilities, with a results-focused mindset.
Work Environment:
Primarily in a climate-controlled office setting; occasional travel to project sites may expose the employee to varying conditions.
