Element6's client is seeking an experienced Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to join their dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in Oracle database environments and a proven ability to deliver innovative solutions. In this role, you will focus on optimizing database performance, implementing operational improvements, and contributing to the evolution of our client's cloud-hosted database solutions. This is a hybrid role that requires being onsite in Brookfield, WI once a week.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Database Management:
Design and execute a Proof of Concept (PoC) for hosting DNA/Oracle databases in the cloud, specifically on Microsoft Azure.
Ensure a seamless transition to the cloud environment, adhering to best practices for security, performance, and scalability.
Database Optimization:
Evaluate and optimize day-end and month-end replicated/static copies of production databases used for reporting.
Analyze and improve performance issues related to queries, indexing, RAC, and Active DataGuard configurations.
Operational Enhancements:
Implement operational improvements for database environments, focusing on batch performance tuning and efficient resource utilization.
Automate key database operations, including exports and imports, to improve system reliability and reduce manual effort.
Performance Monitoring and Troubleshooting:
Proactively monitor database performance and identify bottlenecks.
Conduct deep-dive investigations into query performance and address pain points effectively.
Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing:
Work closely with the SQL/Snowflake DBA team to ensure alignment and knowledge transfer.
Document procedures, optimizations, and best practices to enhance team understanding and capabilities.
Qualifications
Extensive experience as an Oracle DBA in enterprise environments.
Strong expertise in Oracle database technologies, including RAC, Active DataGuard, and performance tuning.
Hands-on experience with monitoring tools, query optimization, and enhancing database performance.
Proficient in Microsoft Azure cloud services, particularly in hosting and managing Oracle databases.
Skilled in database automation, including exports, imports, and scripting for efficiency.
Excellent documentation and communication skills to share knowledge with cross-functional teams.
Familiarity with SQL and Snowflake databases is a plus.
Preferred Skills
Experience with batch performance tuning and environment optimization.
Demonstrated ability to implement operational improvements in complex database systems.
Knowledge of industry best practices for cloud database migration and optimization.
