The System Analyst is a valued member of an agile technology team, they partner with the Product Manager to understand upcoming work based on product backlog and roadmap and break down projects into epics and user stories for Developers and Testers. The System Analyst collaborates with the agile team to assist with technical design and write user stories that include detailed technical requirements to create or modify an application to meet business objectives.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology, Business Analytics, Computer Science or equivalent
Understanding of the Agile methodology, Scrum, Kanban
Experience writing user stories, requirements, and process models
Ability to explain complex technology concepts/decisions to both technical and non-technical audiences
Experience using SQL to query databases
Excellent communication skills and able to work in a collaborative setting
Strong organizational skills
Strong writing and technical writing skills
Responsibilities:
Write requirements, including epics and user stories, based on Product Manager direction and technical knowledge; including business rules, acceptance criteria, data and infosec requirements, non-functional requirements, accessibility, and integration requirements
Collaborate with Product Manager to understand upcoming work for the product/applications, including business objectives, goals, client requests, user needs, etc.
Collaborate with technical team to understand product/application design, components, integrations, tech debt, etc; understand the technical design of the application, upstream/downstream systems and contracts (payloads and methods), data required and produced by the application and data required to validate a change
Manage and maintain the product backlog (in Jira or similar tool)
Represent the product/application to others as SME to answer questions and collaborate on projects, including IT leadership, business stakeholders, Product and UX teams, and upstream/downstream technology teams
Create and maintain product/application documentation, such as as-is and to-be process models, system context diagram, production support materials, onboarding, and help guides in Confluence (and other tools)
Investigate production incidents and pre-production issues by querying databases, reviewing log files, inspect JSON/XML messages, etc.
