Training Specialist II - Live Class Instructor

Hybrid - Charlotte, NC

3-Year Contract (W2), Weekly Pay (40 hours/week)

Desired Start Date: 1/6/2025

Calculated Hire is in search of a Training Specialist II - Live Class Instructor for our Utility Company partner. You will be responsible for the following components:

Job Description:
  • The successful Training Specialist demonstrates expertise in a wide range of training products and services which support Division and Team goals including.
  • Serves as an internal expert in a discipline specific/task-based area.
  • Provides expertise and innovation in the research, design, analysis, and administration of assigned function(s) to support the achievement of business objectives of assigned customer area(s).
  • Serves as subject matter expert for complex training projects in accordance with Division Business processes.
  • Ability to assess and analyze training needs during design, development, deployment, and all phases of post deployment assessment to ensure sustainability of training purpose and intent.
  • Designs and administers training products and services for assigned projects to enable achievement of Company, project, Team, and business unit goals and support compliance with client training needs, include instructor lead, e-learning, train-the-trainer, and end user training.
  • Remains abreast of current and emerging training practices, trends and methods and ensures their application as appropriate.
  • Attends industry and company-sponsored seminars and conferences; exchanges information with industry, academic, and training professionals; research appropriate journals and periodicals.

Required Education
  • Bachelor's Degree

Desired Qualifications
  • Working knowledge electric, energy, utility sector.
  • Working knowledge of system development life cycle and Agile Project methodology.
  • Familiarity Proficient with MS Teams and remote collaboration tools is required.
  • Requires the ability to self-motivate under direct and indirect project leadership, often in a matrixed structure, to complete individual and teams tasks under strict deadlines. Familiarity with safety standards, OMS, ADMS, DMS, CL FISR, Service Suite, Customer Systems, Work Order Processes, and Work Methods.
  • Working knowledge of LMS systems, MS productivity applications (Word, Excel, Teams, etc.), effective use of training development applications and methods including Articulate Suite (Rise and Storyline), Vyond, Camtasia, JIRA, etc.
  • An understanding of Agile and other project management fundamentals, outage management systems, event driven dispatching systems, electric distribution/transmission grid.
  • Having Kirkpatrick and/or ATD certifications and/or working knowledge of these methods is a plus.
  • Works well with cross-functional teams on major projects, process improvement efforts, and collaborating virtually.
  • Supports major outage event response from an office environment as needed; this can include extended hours, weekend, and holidays.

Travel Requirements
  • 20-40% travel
  • Traveling to all Operation Centers across Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, NC, and FL. Ranges from Plainfield, IN - Cincinnati, OH, Wilmington, NC, St. Petersburg, FL and points in-between. Overnight stays required.
  • A training trip could be a few days a week, max would be Travel on Monday - train on T/W/Th - travel out Friday. This is over a 13-week period, with some non-travel weeks mixed into each deployment depending on the project schedule.
