Buyer Essential Functions

Build and maintain vendor relationships, including negotiating contract terms, product/shipping costs, exclusivity, and exits to support financial targets and strategy.
Prepare purchase orders by verifying specifications and pricing for raw materials, labels, boxes, pans, and components.
Contact vendors and suppliers for quotations and follow up on outstanding purchase orders.
Coordinate with foreign and local vendors regarding purchases, product quality issues, and order status, ensuring timely delivery.
Source new materials and vendors as necessary.
Identify vendors for materials, equipment, or supplies and assess product availability and terms of sales.
Review and analyze inventory; maintain computer-based systems to process purchase orders.
Analyze market and delivery systems to evaluate current and future material availability.
Place routine orders based on usage, tracking, and monitoring status.
Maintain accurate files and records of materials and prices.
Collaborate with Sales, Project Managers, and R&D teams on new product developments, including BOM issues and incoming material status.
Provide purchasing planning and control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
Verify purchase requisitions by comparing items requested to master lists; clarify unclear items and recommend alternatives.
Coordinate shipments and other duties as assigned by management.
Negotiate viable credit limits and terms with vendors.
Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
Support the organization's mission by completing purchasing-related objectives as needed.
Buyer Competencies
Strong negotiating skills
Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, and industry-standard purchase order software platforms
Impeccable attention to detail
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Capability to thrive in a high-stress and fast-paced environment
Fluency in English (written and spoken)
Buyer Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred
5+ years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
Cosmetic industry background preferred
Certified Purchasing Professional or Supply Chain Management Certificate preferred
Lean Six Sigma or similar industry-related certifications are highly preferred but not required
