Based in Pittsburgh, PA, this fast-paced commercial construction company manages heavily subcontracted projects in retail, restaurants, and fitness clubs across the country. With a focus on these shorter, high-volume projects this is a rapidly-moving environment and they need a Project Manager who can keep the pace while traveling heavily. This role is an impactful position with strong growth potential; the ability to problem-solve and communicate effectively to all stakeholders is the winning combination they're looking for.
What You'll Do:
Be proactive and organized to keep project milestones and overall project schedules on time and within budget
Negotiate subcontractor agreements and ensure all project needs are met
Move quickly and efficiently to creatively problem-solve and keep things flowing
Communicate effectively with Architects, Suppliers, Subcontractors, Project Coordinators, the Accounting team and the Director of Construction
Travel extensively (~ 70% of the time) to visit project sites and clients, keeping everyone in the loop about project status
Manage all aspects of construction phases from estimating to project completion
Prepare and maintain project files, project and submittal logs, and developing change orders when needed
What You'll Need:
Fast-paced commercial construction project management for short-duration projects (3-4 months) -- must have commercial experience
Experience working remotely and traveling heavily in the field
Have a proactive attitude and ability to creatively problem-solve without hand-holding, a history of being the person who is always looking to be ahead of things
Be great at negotiation (should have experience negotiating subcontractor agreements)
Strong budget and scheduling expertise, particularly in subcontractor-heavy environments - have a hstory of your projects being on-schedule and within budget
Project Management software (Premier and/or ProCor is a plus!)
Experience in smaller companies where adaptability and resourcefulness are key (plus if you have a combo of big, established companies as well as smaller companies and teams)
Be located on the west coast (ideally)
Plus Skills:
Background in retail, restaurant, or fitness construction projects
Experience working in sales, estimating, or accounting functions
Experience in ProCor, Premier, and/or Microsoft Project
