Job Summary:
The Electrical Drafter, Level I, is responsible for creating detailed technical drawings and schematics for electrical systems and components. The role involves interpreting specifications and blueprints, ensuring compliance with industry standards and codes, and making revisions based on project feedback, utilizing CAD software, collaborating with engineers and designers to develop accurate representations of electrical layouts, wiring diagrams, and installation plans. The Electrical Drafter plays a crucial role in supporting the development and implementation of electrical projects.
Duties/ Responsibilities:
Develop detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout plans using CAD software.
Work closely with electrical engineers and designers to understand project requirements and incorporate their feedback into designs.
Analyze project specifications, blueprints, and codes to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
Make necessary revisions to drawings based on project changes or feedback from stakeholders.
Organize and maintain project files, ensuring all drawings and documents are up-to-date and accessible.
Assist in compiling lists of materials and components needed for projects.
Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to design standards before finalization.
Provide technical support to project teams during the installation and implementation phases.
Keep abreast of changes in electrical codes and industry standards to ensure all designers comply.
Attend project meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and design modifications with team members.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Proficiency in CAD software (like AutoCAD, Revit) and electrical design tools.
Understanding of national and local electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC).
Skill in creating and interpreting schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings.
Strong understanding of electrical system and components.
Ability to diagnose and solve electrical issues effectively.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
Education and Experience:
An associate degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field is required.
1-2 years of experience in electrical drafting.
