As a core member of Blue's Digital Innovation Team, our Quality & Agile Operations Lead will bridge agile methodologies and quality assurance processes, ensuring the delivery of high-quality software products. This role combines the responsibilities of a Scrum Master and Software Quality Engineer, managing Scrum ceremonies, developing and executing test plans, and refining requirements to meet Blue's strategic goals.

You will work cross-functionally with stakeholders, product owners, developers, and analysts, fostering agile practices and quality standards that enable the team to deliver robust, reliable solutions. This role is essential for driving alignment in project objectives, enhancing product quality, and promoting continuous improvement within the development cycle.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Agile Facilitation & Leadership: o Lead Scrum ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives. o Manage the development backlog, aligning tasks with business goals, tracking project progress, and resolving team impediments. o Coach team members on Agile principles, fostering a collaborative, self-organizing team culture. o Track and analyze Agile metrics to optimize team performance, delivering insights to stakeholders.

  • Quality Assurance & Testing: o Design, execute, and document test cases, including functional, regression, and performance testing. o Identify, document, and track defects, ensuring thorough resolution and quality control across software releases. o Develop automated testing practices and maintain test cases to ensure comprehensive coverage and reliability. o Conduct post-deployment testing and verify changes for production readiness.

  • Requirements Gathering & Analysis: o Collaborate with business stakeholders to capture and refine requirements, transforming them into detailed user stories with clear acceptance criteria. o Ensure alignment of features and requirements across platforms (web and mobile) and manage governance processes for feature release approvals. o Assist with release planning, triaging end-user issues, and managing dependencies across cross-functional teams.

  • Compliance: o Remain aware of and adhere to Blue's policies, procedures, and relevant regulations, including those pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act.

  • Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

Experience

Minimum of 2 years as a Scrum Master, Quality Assurance Engineer, or similar role in software development, ideally within a financial technology setting. Proficient in Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and familiar with Azure DevOps or similar project management tools. Hands-on experience with test case development, defect tracking, and quality assurance standards.

Education/Certifications/Licenses

Associate's degree in computer information systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or a related field; or equivalent relevant experience. Preferred: ASTQB/ISTQB Certified Tester or a similar recognized certification in software testing.

Interpersonal Skills

The ability to motivate or influence internal or external senior-level professionals is a critical part of the job, requiring a significant level of influence and trust. Obtaining cooperation and agreement on important outcomes via frequently complex, senior-level dialogues, as well as a professional level of written communication skills, are essential to the position. Strong customer service, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to learn and adapt quickly to new and emerging concepts and technologies. Demonstrated effectiveness in highly collaborative, team-oriented environments. Experience with financial systems, banking software support, or similar industries. Proven ability to maintain high productivity while developing and executing test plans and cases. Skilled in managing multiple tasks and prioritizing effectively within dynamic, fast-paced settings. Capable of leading Agile ceremonies and coaching team members on Agile methodologies to drive team productivity and self-organization.

Other Skills

Preferred Skills: Hands-on experience identifying, documenting, and prioritizing test cases based on requirements and risk analysis. Proficiency in web and mobile software testing, with familiarity in both ad hoc and exploratory testing methods. Experience working within Agile software development frameworks, specifically in Scrum and Kanban. Familiarity with test case management software, and the ability to implement automated testing practices. Competency in using Agile tools like Azure DevOps for backlog management and sprint planning. Strong presentation and facilitation skills, with the ability to lead large meetings, inspire team participation, and drive project alignment.

Physical Requirements

Is able to bend, sit, and stand in order to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.

Working Conditions

Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.

Mental and/or Emotional Requirements

Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to complete basic mathematical calculations, spell accurately, and understand computer basics. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
