Highly skilled Haul Truck Equipment Trainer that will perform on the job training to advance the skills and ability of the diesel-electric mechanical work force while demonstrating the tasks associated with the removal, repair, installation, system analysis, diagnosis, advanced troubleshooting, and system/process optimization of various models of AC driven Mining Equipment. This position is a hands-on assignment that will work side-by-side with the workforce to ensure knowledge transfer and the use of best practices in the diesel-electric mechanical field.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Provide individual mentoring and training for the Diesel Mechanic work force. • Review and update standard operating procedures and job task instructions. • Recommend and assist in the development of action plans to continuously improve the mechanical repair process and reliability. • Continually reinforce best safety practices, company policy and ensure that the work force knows the hazards associated with working around mechanical & electrical systems. • Advance the skills and ability of the Diesel Mechanic work force by instructing and demonstrating the ability to remove, repair, replace, test, analyze, diagnose, advance troubleshoot, and optimize:
o Mechanical & Electrical Systems for Haul Trucks including:
§ Auxiliary Invertor
§ Wheel Motors
§ Main Alternator
§ Suspensions
§ Hoist Cylinders
§ Grid Box Blowers
§ Engines
§ Drag Link Bearings
§ Engine Modules
§ Brakes
o Trained in diagnostics and repairs on A/C drive systems.
o High Pressure (5,000 psi) Hydraulic systems and electrohydraulic valving.
o Rectifier systems in Siemens and GE drive mining equipment
o Dynamic systems in Siemens and GE drive mining equipment
o Propulsion systems in Siemens and GE drive mining equipment
Responsible for executing, supporting, and enforcing the Company's Environmental, Health and Safety program as required by OIS policy, directives, and principles.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to program auxiliary inverters with windows driven programming
Advanced Knowledge of High-Pressure Hydraulic systems, how they work, how to troubleshoot, and how to repair.
Ability to diagnose engine, troubleshoot events codes with DDEC systems, Insite / Cense systems.
Proficient use of Oxygen/Acetylene Torches for Cutting and Heating.
• Ability to identify petroleum products usage and disposal. • Knowledge of procedures and positioning for checking fluid levels on all mine equipment. • Knowledge of oil sampling and coolant analysis. • Working knowledge of shop, field preventive maintenance process, and field fueling procedures. • Must maintain daily service reports, and equipment status reports for technical questions. • Strong leadership skills. • Ability to teach and mentor. • Ability to read, understand, and apply information from technical manuals, drawings, prints, and schematics for installation, troubleshooting and repair including hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic schematics. • Ability to lead and complete job assignments in a timely manner. • Mentor and/or train other diesel-mechanic employees. • Ability to be trained and to operate equipment including but not limited to scissor lift, man-lifts, forklift, boom trucks, and overhead cranes. • Applicant must have effective written, visual, electronic, and verbal communication skills. • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety related instructions and procedures given in English. • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages and to draw and interpret bar graphs. • Ability to manage time effectively and set priorities. • Ability to manage multiple tasks. • Ability to think under stressful and adverse conditions. • Must have teamwork, problem solving, and negotiation skills. • The physical requirements of the position are considered Heavy Work: Exerting up to 80 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. • The ability to work in conditions of extreme heat, extreme cold, and vibration. May involve work with or near chemicals including but not limited to airborne and/or skin exposure, high noise levels, confined spaces, and heights. • Ability to wear respirator in conditions of fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases or poor ventilation. • Ability to ascend or descend ladders, scaffolding, stairs, ramps, and the like with agility. • Availability to work any shift, including weekends and holidays (shifts may be rotating). Mine operations are 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year). • Provide and maintain the minimum personal tools as described by the department tool list or be able to obtain them within 90 days of hire.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
5 years related experience as an Deisel-Electric Mechanic and certification as a Journeymen Deisel-Electric through a state approved apprenticeship program (or)• 7 years related experience as an Industrial Deisel-Electric experience and associates degree or Trade School Certification in a related field.• Must have high school diploma or GED.
