Identify and procure construction materials and services from vendors at the best possible price and quality, ensuring timely delivery to meet project deadlines, while managing supplier relationships and compliance with company standards within the residential home building industry
Act as a key player in the purchasing process for construction projects by negotiating contracts, monitoring supplier performance, and identifying cost-saving opportunities
Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with qualified suppliers for various construction materials like lumber, appliances, windows, HVAC systems, etc.
Conduct price negotiations with vendors to secure the most competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards
Draft and manage purchase orders, contracts, and supplier agreements, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions
Analyze market trends, cost fluctuations, and supplier performance data to identify potential cost-saving opportunities
Monitor supplier quality standards to ensure delivered materials meet project specifications and quality requirements
Collaborate with project teams to forecast material needs, manage inventory levels, and optimize delivery schedules
Track supplier performance metrics like delivery time, quality issues, and pricing to identify areas for improvement
Ensure adherence to company procurement policies, legal regulations, and ethical sourcing practices
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field.
5 to 7 years of experience in construction procurement, preferably within the residential home building industry; open to outside industries with strong negotiation and contract management skills
Analytical abilities to assess cost data and identify cost-saving opportunities
Collaborative team player, flexible, eager, high energy, and passionate; dependable, committed, and loyal
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with suppliers
Proficiency in procurement software and systems
Understanding of construction project management and relevant building codes
