The Rotor/Caliper Quality Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of safety, productivity, and quality within the manufacturing processes. This individual will serve as the Process Owner, driving continuous process improvements to enhance quality while reducing manufacturing costs. The role involves applying best practices to improve process capability and productivity across all levels. The engineer will be instrumental in establishing and maintaining quality standards and procedures for both new and existing manufacturing processes. They will work closely with interdisciplinary teams, including Applications Engineering and Quality Engineering departments, to develop strategies aimed at improving product quality, manufacturing productivity, and meeting customer requirements. Additionally, the role requires extensive experience with CMM systems, as well as proficiency in various software applications used for quality control and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in defining safety and productivity standards for manufacturing processes.
Serve as Process Owner to drive continuous improvement, quality enhancements, and cost reduction.
Analyze process capability and implement best practices across manufacturing operations.
Develop and implement quality standards and procedures for new and existing processes.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, such as Applications Engineering and Quality Engineering, to define strategies for continuous process improvement.
Assist in the creation or modification of employee training materials.
Provide guidance and support in the supervision of inspectors.
Work with Tier 1 customers to resolve quality-related issues.
Support the qualification and release of parts in receiving inspection.
Assist with machine design, continuous improvement, and re-design efforts.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
Minimum 10 years of experience with CMM systems.
Proficiency with Zeiss Calypso, PC DMIS, and Quindos software/programming.
Experience with Pro-Link Statistical software.
ISO 9001 training or auditing experience.
Strong knowledge of CAPA processes.
Familiarity with CAD systems and CMM integration.
Experience working with suppliers to resolve quality issues.
Familiarity with PLEX and SAP systems.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
IATF 16494 understanding preferred.
Additional Skills & Expertise:
Mechanical Design expertise.
Experience with hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
Electrical knowledge, including ladder logic programming.
New product/process development experience.
Familiarity with material handling systems and heat transfer processes.
Knowledge of SPC, DOE, and FMEA methodologies.
Experience with vision systems, robotic/process automation technologies, and LabView.
CAD software proficiency, particularly in SolidWorks.
Education Requirements:
A 4-year Engineering Degree or equivalent experience.
