Position Overview
Assist the Plant Manager in coordinating concrete plant manufacturing activities and managing the site to produce a quality product at acceptable cost levels. Responsibilities include the efficient and effective utilization of human resources, plant and equipment. The Assistant Plant Manager must foster teamwork, positive work environment and overall safety for themselves and others. This is a floating Assistant Plant Manager position and will support various plants within the Central Florida West region.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
Ensure Health & Safety standards are met by complying with legislation, company policies and promoting a safe work environment.
Must be able to effectively lead others.
Properly follows & promotes all company policies and OSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment.
Must be able to maintain an acceptable attendance record in a flexible work schedule.
Ensure control of all inventories of raw materials and materials for resale.
Based on sales and inventory needs, schedule concrete plant production.
Ensures proper maintenance of plant production equipment to minimize lost production time. This includes maintaining adequate spare parts inventory.
Ensures safe work practice by all concrete plant employees, maintain a strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures.
Ensures that production meets or exceeds established quality standards; responsible for maintaining quality concrete production.
Assist in concrete plant sales and delivery when requested.
Perform routine mechanical/electrical repairs and preventative maintenance.
Perform troubleshooting and problem solving as needed.
Performing bulk and physical inventories
May perform other related duties as required or directed; ensure adequate coverage of all roles necessary for concrete production.
Must be available to travel and work from other company facilities as needed.
Must possess a professional attitude while interacting with peers, contractors, and public.
Must adhere to all environmental and local rules and regulations.
Will support the Plant Manager with the following functions:
Hire, train and supervise an adequate number of employees to meet the needs of the concrete plant operations.
Prepare daily production reports, down time reports, and other paperwork. Responsible for filing and documentation systems
Order and maintain inventory of supplies, parts, equipment, and raw materials required for operations.
Perform moisture analysis on aggregates daily; adjust mixes for moisture content.
Batch and adjust mix designs as required.
Train and cross-train concrete plant personnel as required.
Perform plant startup and closing procedures.
Manage site employees assisting in any required coaching, disciplinary actions, terminations, and annual evaluations.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty.
Education/Experience
1+ years of experience with Ready Mix Concrete.
Understanding of electrical blueprints and computer module interfaces (Allen Bradley, IDEC, and/or Texas Instruments).
A working knowledge of all aspects of control circuits.
Metal fabrication (welding and cutting)
A basic knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic controls and assemblies
Knowledge of mix design and material requirements.
Basic knowledge of ASTM specifications and test results.
Basic OSHA requirements in the Concrete Plant.
Good communication and human resources skills are required.
Experience with the types of production equipment being used in the production process
Work Requirements
Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen, criminal background check and driving record review.
Must be willing to work flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays when necessary.
Must be legally authorized to work in The United States.
Possess valid driver license.
Must demonstrate a strong commitment to safety.
Regular and timely attendance is required.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
Basic computer skills and understanding of Microsoft products.
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
Ability to use hand & power tools.
Ability to weld, chip and use cutting torch.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to utilize computer programs for tracking and reporting needs.
