Specialized Recruiting Group is representing a top food manufacturing company known for high-quality products. We're looking for a Purchasing Assistant to join their team on a contract basis and help manage the timely procurement of materials and supplies. This role involves working with vendors, maintaining accurate records, and supporting the purchasing team to ensure smooth operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement: Assist in sourcing and purchasing materials, ingredients, and supplies required for production, adhering to budget and quality standards.
Vendor Management: Communicate with suppliers to obtain quotes, confirm orders, and resolve any discrepancies or issues.
Inventory Coordination: Monitor stock levels and coordinate with the inventory team to maintain adequate supply while minimizing excess.
Order Processing: Prepare and process purchase orders in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and organized records of purchases, pricing, and delivery schedules.
Compliance: Ensure all purchases comply with company standards, safety regulations, and food manufacturing industry requirements.
Cost Control: Identify opportunities for cost savings through vendor negotiations or alternative sourcing.
Support: Assist with administrative tasks and special projects as assigned by the purchasing manager or department head.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 1 year of experience in purchasing, buying, or procurement roles.
Manufacturing or food manufacturing experience is a plus but not required.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with working knowledge of Word and Outlook.
Exceptional attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy.
Strong organizational and time management skills, capable of prioritizing tasks effectively.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with purchasing or inventory management software is a plus.
