The Estimating Manager is responsible for leading the estimating team in preparing detailed and accurate cost estimates. This position oversees the tracking, monitoring, and documentation of historical cost data and production rates to support future projects and ensure the company's competitiveness and profitability. The ideal candidate will possess leadership capabilities, a deep understanding of construction processes, and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Essential Functions
Manages the Estimating Team
Coordinate workload and delegate tasks effectively across the team to ensure deadlines are met.
Prepare and oversee the Estimating schedule, ensuring appropriate coordination among stakeholders.
Monitors all bid opportunities for viability and performs go/no go analysis in coordination with the Business Unit Leader
Ensures the timely and accurate completion of estimates and bids in compliance with M&H SOPs by overseeing the preparation of detailed cost estimates, including scope, costs, risks, materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor expenses.
Ensure estimates align with project specifications, timelines, and company standards.
Review and present final estimates to senior management, clients, and other internal or external stakeholders as needed.
Utilize historical data to create more accurate and efficient estimates for future projects.
Implement and oversee cost-tracking systems and databases to ensure data accuracy and availability for future estimates.
Collaborate with project managers and field operations to gather input for accurate cost estimates.
Communicate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain pricing, clarify scopes of work, and ensure complete proposals.
Work with the business development team to support the creation of competitive bids for new projects.
Continuously evaluate and improve estimating methods, processes, and tools by implementing best practices and ensuring the team utilizes the latest industry software and technology.
Prepare regular reports on estimating performance, including variance analyses, cost-to-budget comparisons, and historical cost trends.
Actively finds and engages in industry associations, networking events, and other opportunities to promote M&H in the industry and community.
Establishes and maintains amicable and productive long-term relationships with current and potential customers
Partners with the Director, Project Management, Director, Field Operations, and/or their direct reports to ensure strong handoffs, monitor estimate vs. actual project status and help facilitate operational execution of the Division's projects.
Coordinates with and/or participates in the M&H Estimating Committee to ensure consistency of proposals, evaluate estimating processes and software, etc. Makes recommendations for and facilitates implementation of new or improved processes and/or software to ensure the effective operation of M&H's estimating function

Demonstrates ability to successfully lead, coach, and develop others while prioritizing tasks, delegating effectively, and ensuring accountability within the estimating team.
Strong strategic, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Proficiency in operating general computer software like Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite is Required; proficiency or ability to learn estimating, CRM, and other company software is also required
Experience & Education
Min of 5 years of relevant experience in construction estimating, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role
Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Business strongly preferred
Proficiency in estimating software and Google Suite (docs, sheets, etc.)

Other Requirements
Full-time hours required; most work will be performed on weekdays during normal business hours

Some travel to M&H office locations and/or other local/regional travel may be required (may vary based on Business Unit)
