We are seeking a motivated Production Equipment Operator to join our business. This is a steel production equipment operator position responsible for properly reading and executing work orders to timely meet customer requirements. This non-exempt (hourly) position typically reports directly to the Warehouse Supervisor or Manager and has no supervisory responsibilities. The position requires working in accordance with Triple-S Steel job requirements and safe methods of work. Overtime hours may be required to meet our customers' needs. This role is ideal for a highly organized and technically skilled professional ready to lead our tube laser implementation and production efficiency.
Responsibilities:
Tube Laser Operation & Setup: Lead the setup and operation of the Mazak Jumbo Tube Laser, utilizing advanced machine parameters to maximize efficiency and quality.
Material Management: Handle material identification, transport from storage, and proper return of raw materials and scrap disposal.
Quality Control: Perform First Piece Article inspections and verify dimensions against engineering specifications. Document part measurements to ensure compliance with quality standards.
Manufacturing Software Input: Input data related to time, material usage, and production quantities into manufacturing software to maintain accurate production records.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Conduct routine maintenance on the tube laser, troubleshoot operational issues, and follow all machine upkeep schedules.
Clean & Organized Work Area: Keep the machine and work area clean, neat, and orderly.
Secondary Operations: When required or when time allows, operate secondary machines, de-tab or de-burr parts with grinders and sanders.
Safety & Compliance: Follow all safety rules and procedures, wear required safety equipment, and report discrepancies to immediate supervisors.
Additional Duties: Perform any additional tasks as assigned, supporting the branch's production goals.
Qualifications:
Technical Reading & Interpretation: Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, safety rules, and maintenance instructions.
Measurement Proficiency: Knowledge of both metric and inch measuring systems and ability to use precision measuring equipment like calipers, micrometers, and tape measures.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures such as proportions, percentages, area, and volume. Proficiency in basic math and geometry.
Problem-Solving Abilities: Skill in solving practical problems with concrete variables where limited standardization exists.
Software & CNC Knowledge: Familiarity with manufacturing software, Windows software, CNC software, and NC code.
Equipment Operation: Ability to operate a lift truck and a 10-ton remote-controlled crane for loading and unloading materials.
Reliability: Strong attendance, dependability, and work ethic.
Education/Training
Education: High school diploma or GED.
Experience: At least 5 years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Requirements
Physical Demands: Frequent standing, walking, reaching overhead, and kneeling. Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and loud noise.
Lifting Requirements: Regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds.
Vision and Hearing: Must have clear vision (close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception) and the ability to adjust focus, as well as clear hearing and speaking abilities.
