West Power Energy (WPE) is a leading multi-disciplinary engineering consulting firm, with a primary specialization in power generation, transmission, and distribution. West Power Energy strives to provide engineering services to public and private utility companies, consultants, and contractors taking part in the design and construction of power generation facilities, transmission lines, and substations, across the United States and Canada. We offer solutions from feasibility studies, full engineering design services to close out and preparation of as-built recordings.
Our Transmission Engineering team is looking for a Transmission Line Engineer to support our growing Transmission & Distribution practice in San Diego or Arcadia. This is a hybrid position, working some days in office and working some days from home. The successful candidate will be involved in all facets of transmission line routing and design.
Job Description
The primary duties include:
Routing and design of transmission lines utilizing Power Line Systems software
Sag tension calculation for transmission tower loading. Structure design and analysis and preparing loading trees
Developing design criteria and specifications for the transmission line design and procurement of materials
Project cost estimating and quality control reviews
Should be familiar with industry codes and standards and have experience as the technical lead on projects
Assist Engineer of Record in preparing construction documents including plan and profile drawings, structure loading trees, and foundation and assembly drawings
Assist Engineer of Record with complex projects and be the Engineer of Record for smaller projects
Assist the Engineer of Record in preparing specifications and project design criteria
Provide construction support for high voltage transmission line project
Looking for a seller-doer with the ability to develop client relationships
Provide technical leadership, guidance, and instruction to less experienced staff members
Provide field support during construction
Additional duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited college
Professional Engineering (P.E.) license or ability to obtain license with 12 months of hire
Minimum 4 years of transmission line design
Must have PLS-CADD expertise and PLS-Pole
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Travel may be required up to 10% of the time
Preferred Qualifications
EPC experience is strongly preferred
Professional Engineering (P.E.) license in CA
This position's base salary range approximation is $115K - $145K, depending on numerous factors such as applicable experience, skills, knowledge, credentials, geographical location, etc.
