OLINE Construction is looking for a Project Engineer to oversee and manage our construction projects in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
Our Project Engineers assist the Development & Construction teams with the planning and daily execution of our future and ongoing construction projects. Someone in this role can expect to function as the link between office management, field activities, accounting, and project administration. The position is involved primarily in pre-construction, estimating, material sourcing and procurement. In addition, this role will assist in overseeing the of submittal processes, maintaining logs, schedules, budgets, to facilitate a well-managed project. Oline strictly maintains project safety initiatives. Our ideal Project Engineer is flexible and adaptable, a team-player, is easygoing but possesses strong communication, task management and client service skills.
Duties and Responsibilities: • Perform outreach to trade partners to promote project opportunities and generate interest in increasing bid package coverage, supplier and subcontractor selection, and buyout process. • Perform project management responsibilities, such as: writing and administering Subcontract and Purchase Agreement exhibits; draft cost change requests, prepare cost forecasts, lead meetings & job walks, Q.C. coordination, etc. • Participate in all aspects of the procurement process for assigned projects • Participate in OAC meetings and prepare and distribute timely and accurate meeting minutes. • Assist in bidder selection and scope of work descriptions and qualification for Client RFP's and new projects. • Estimating materials costs, labor costs, and other costs associated with the project. • Assist the construction team in managing, processing and tracking of submittals, RFI's, Change Order Requests (CORs), pricing change orders (COs) and subcontracts and logs. • Assist in management of project permit process. • Lead the document control process: Distribute electronic and paper plans, review and approve shop drawings and submittals, specifications, drawings, permits, etc. to appropriate parties and maintain the drawing revision logs. • Monitor, measure, inspect and report scope on work put into place in the field. • Support the Superintendents to generate and update Project Schedules as necessary including inserting confirmed materials lead-times. • Problem solver and handles conflict resolution related to field activities. Initiate corrective action as warranted to achieve the project expectations and goals. • Maintain project records including all current plans, specifications, submittals, construction change directives, change orders and closeout documentation in an organized fashion. • Identify conflicts in construction progress and communicate them to the construction team for resolution. • Complies with all safety policies and wear proper safety equipment at all times. • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, similar degree or relevant work experience. • 3+ years of relevant experience • Preferred prior experience in the construction industry is desired, specifically multifamily construction projects. • OSHA 30-Hour Construction required or can obtain. • First Aid/CPR Certification required or can obtain.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: • Strong Leadership and team management skills. • Proficient with technologies and applications used in business and on construction sites, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project, SharePoint, & Outlook), and other current construction management software including AutoDesk Construction Cloud (AutoCAD, Build, ProEst, Takeoff, Assemble, BIM360), Primavera, Blue Beam, Procore, or similar. • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet project deadlines. • Ability to maintain a high level of organization.
Safety: • Comply with all safety policies, report suspected safety concerns, make recommendations for enhancements to the safety program, and visibly support and uphold the company's strong safety culture. • Assist in ensuring all construction activities are conducted in a safe, clean and orderly working environment and ensure job site compliance with the Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP), including addressing job site issues and documentation of any IIPP events in adherence with the Company's IIPP manual. • Remain current in all company required safety training and certifications. • Acknowledge and celebrate safe behaviors and actions of others.
Physical Requirements: • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach. • Occasionally required to crawl. • Lift 50 lbs. • Extensive reading of documents and computer. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. • Willingness and ability to work extended hours and flexible schedules, including evenings and weekends. • Willingness and ability to travel frequently.
Work Environment: • The Project Engineer's duties may consist of work both in the field as well as the office. • Will be exposed to outside weather elements while in the field. • May be exposed to loud noises, fumes, and/or airborne particles while in the field. • While in the field, dress (including proper PPE), is conducive to a building construction environment.
