Job Description:

LHH is working with a full-service civil construction company specializing in large site infrastructure, underground, and road work. They are currently seeking a Senior Estimator to join Their team.

About the Role - Working under minimal supervision, the Senior Estimator will have strong knowledge of the construction industry and estimating processes, collaborating with other estimating team members and corporate leaders to achieve estimating goals and policies. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in heavy civil, DOT/municipal, concrete paving, heavy background in pipe, heavy earthworks, underground utilities, and structures within both the public and private sectors.

Responsibilities
  • Consistently monitor and evaluate industry-wide bid announcement publications and client or customer requests for estimates, preparing potential project information for team member review and final selection to pursue weekly.
  • Prepare or review project plans and specifications, coordinating with other estimating team members to confirm complete scope.
  • Prepare or review general conditions, schedules, scopes of work, site logistics, and other exhibits as prepared.
  • Perform and/or assist with the quantity survey, take-off reports, presentations, and pricing efforts for internal reviews and budgets. Maintain a digital record of those take-offs.
  • Participate in and support daily operations of the work of other team members that develop pricing and finalize estimates from conceptual through construction stages.
  • Estimating processes, contract and scope review, subcontractor evaluation and selection, estimating purchase orders, review change requests, change order pricing, and project budgets.
  • Review estimates before the bids are submitted.
  • Present and participate in final executive-level meetings to ensure that final estimates reflect management decisions.
  • Assist in monitoring job costs once the project has started.
  • Visit prospective job sites as needed.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Work with field and PMs to produce monthly revenue and cost forecasts.
  • Help resolve issues that arise in estimating and/or on the projects.
  • Demonstrate independent thinking and initiative on a consistent and regular basis.
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft programs, Bluebeam, Adobe, HCSS (Heavy Bid). Additional working knowledge preferred but not required on AutoCAD, Agtek, MicroStation.
  • Follow all OSHA and other safety guidelines.
  • Manage any stress on the job, including but not limited to meeting deadlines.
  • Always adhere to company safety standards.
  • This position is office-based, working during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines.

Qualifications
  • Travel once a month - otherwise based out of McKinney (will be up to 10-hour days when bids are due )
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent work experience (8-10 years)
  • Experience in estimating heavy highway construction with an emphasis on bridge, concrete paving, and underground utilities (sewer storm) in excess of $50 million
  • Minimum 10 years' experience working with HCSS, Agtek, and other takeoff software such as Bluebeam or PlanSwift
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
