We have been retained to recruit a Vice President of Operations (non-investment) for a prestigious family office based in Grand Rapids, MI. Reporting directly to the CEO, the VP will serve as a strategic partner to the senior leadership team, overseeing a portfolio of non-investment internal operations, including HR and IT, while playing a key role in the success of a newly renovated 5-star resort property in the British Virgin Islands. We are specifically looking for someone who has served as an owners' representative, ensuring the success of the property-not a hospitality executive with resort management experience.
The ideal candidate will be a seasoned business manager with at least 15 years of experience in general management or financial management, overseeing a portfolio of assets within a family office. Please note that operations management experience within a manufacturing firm is not applicable and that Family Office experience is required. Key qualifications include:
Expertise in project management, budgeting, and forecasting
Proven team leadership and consensus-building abilities
Experience in representing the family's interests and overseeing the success of a resort property
Exceptional client service and relationship management skills
Strong ability to translate strategic concepts into successful business operations
Experience overseeing other family assets, including yacht and aviation programs.
This role demands the highest levels of professionalism, integrity, discretion, and respect for privacy when representing the family. The ideal candidate must possess clear, concise verbal and written communication skills, be detail-oriented, data-driven, methodical, patient, and able to achieve objectives through collaboration with business partners, even without direct authority. Prior experience in a family office or family-owned business is required.
This full-time position is based in Grand Rapids, MI (there are no remote or hybrid options), and a personal connection to West Michigan is preferred.
