Summary

(This role is hybrid and can be based at one of our locations: Westlake, OH, or Louisville, KY) As a Reliability Engineer at TravelCenters of America, your primary responsibly will be to ensure the dependability, availability, and optimal performance of our fleet and equipment. You will work closely with various teams to detect potential reliability concerns, devise and implement effective solutions, and improve overall operational efficiency. This role demands a proactive maintenance strategy and solid grasp of engineering principles.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) strategies to enhance fleet performance and reduce downtime.
  • Perform root cause analysis (RCA) to pinpoint failure modes and formulate corrective action plans.
  • Work in conjunction with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to set reliability metrics and performance indicators.
  • Identify and drive data driven maintenance quality in collaboration with the Truck Service Technical teams and Learning and Development.
  • Identify cost savings opportunities for our largest fleet customers based on their unscheduled maintenance trends.
  • Optimize TA warranty spend through root cause identification and mitigation
  • Stay abreast of future engine and overall vehicle maintenance needs due to design or regulatory changes.
  • Utilize data analysis and statistical modeling to forecast equipment failures and evaluate reliability trends.
  • Lead projects aimed at improving reliability, including the adoption of new technologies and processes.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation for reliability initiatives, such as reports, analyses, and procedures.
  • Offer technical support and training to maintenance and operations personnel to enhance reliability practices.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in reliability engineering to ensure the implementation of best practices.
  • At least 25% travel

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or a related field) or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in reliability engineering or a related field, ideally within the transportation or logistics sector preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g., MATLAB, R, or similar).
  • Familiarity with reliability engineering principles, methodologies, and tools (e.g., FMEA, RCM, RCA).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and reliability-related software.
  • Certification in Reliability Engineering (e.g., CRE, CMRP) a plus.
