Join our innovative team at the forefront of synthetic biology and regenerative medicine. As a Stem Cell Synthetic Biologist, you will develop groundbreaking methodologies to control stem cell behavior using advanced synthetic biology tools. Your work will directly contribute to engineering tissues and advancing the possibility of growing whole organs in vitro. Our anticipated salary range is $130k-$160k a year, but specific salary will depend on experience & fit.
What You'll Do: • Design and implement synthetic biology approaches to control stem cell differentiation in both 2D and 3D cultures. • Develop spatiotemporally controlled systems leveraging proprietary mRNA technologies to drive patterned differentiation in stem cells. • Investigate exciting research areas, including regulation of cell differentiation, division, and programmed cell death. • Collaborate with mRNA and DNA engineering teams to design and test novel payloads with enhanced translational efficiency. • Work closely with our 3D printing scientist to optimize cellular interactions for the generation of large, healthy organoids. • Contribute to a pioneering effort to engineer tissues and develop methods for whole organ growth in vitro.
Qualifications: • PhD with a strong track record in synthetic biology applied to stem cells, genetic modification, or control of stem cell behavior. • 2+ years of postdoctoral or industry experience in stem cell biology, cellular differentiation, or synthetic biology/bioengineering. • Passion for wet lab research and leadership, with a commitment to growing and mentoring a wet lab team.
Preferred Experience: • Hands-on experience with CRISPR screens. • Knowledge of vascular biology is a significant advantage. • Familiarity with embryology, developmental biology, or organismal biology is highly desirable. • Proficiency in a broad range of cellular assays and methodologies; we value versatility and adaptability over specialization. • The Salary Range listed here is for a Scientist II, but we are open to speaking to scientists with all ranges of seniority & experience.
Who You Are: • A problem solver who thrives on iteration and finding practical solutions. • Self-motivated and capable of navigating the challenges of a young company with evolving research priorities. • Excited by the opportunity to work in an interdisciplinary environment at the cutting edge of science.
Why Join Us:
We are a small but mighty and very well-funded team of scientists who believe in a principled approach to tissue engineering. We engage in fun and rigorous research. We welcome scientists who seek an intellectual home but are driven to action--we understand the importance of controls, excellent experimental design and mastery over the literature, but we are not willing to stop tinkering, exploring and developing our ideas in the quest for perfection. We put our egos aside and credit teams, not individuals, for progress. That said, we value individuality, and we carefully select our team members, with an emphasis on respecting and encouraging all kinds of diversity. We believe that to understand how different cell types work together, we need many different ways of thinking and working.Join us in shaping the future of regenerative medicine and tissue engineering. Together, we'll tackle ambitious challenges and push the boundaries of what's possible.
