How You Will Make An Impact (Job Summary)
Manage a category of commodity/products, including owning supplier selection and approval process, pricing, contracts and while adhering to the Weil-McLain and Marley Engineered Products business processes. This position will be responsible for leading all sourcing and supply chain strategy development to support both short- and long-term strategies of the businesses, including year-over-year improvements in current and new product material cost, quality, availability, and inventory.

Develop and execute short and long-term sourcing strategies that support technical, quality, and commercial requirements.
Regularly adapt sourcing strategies concerning market trends and business requirements to enhance effectiveness
Develop exit strategies for suppliers that don't meet Weil-McLain and Marley Engineered Products supplier standards
Subject Matter Expert for assigned category; uses knowledge/expertise of category to manage cost drivers, changing supply base, and market innovation to capture lower costs and/or high-value alternatives to meet stakeholder needs.
Acquires a deep understanding of the supply markets that provide materials, products, or services. Assesses the supply market, and our current and future state to develop sourcing strategies and risk mitigation.
Establish relationships with functional and divisional peers and leaders to ensure sourcing strategies align with our business goals and objectives.
Proven track record in driving productivity and value add through negotiations and supplier management.
Utilize formal processes for supplier selection, qualification, contracting, and management.
Support and influence NPD (New Product Development) programs in a cross-functional setting with product management, engineering, manufacturing, and quality.
Define requirements for sourcing, RFX's
Bridges SC gap for all product changes, quality concerns, etc.
Supports plan for phase-in / phase-out
Identifies and aggregates technical, commercial, risk, opportunity, and demand requirements for contract negotiation. Lead negotiation and execution of agreements.
Lead the development and execute the Supplier Management strategy and approach including Supplier Relationship Management, Performance Management, Issue Resolution, and the identification/onboarding of new suppliers.
Provide direction within direct reports and multi-site purchasing teams as required on the following processes:
Supplier Development - Work with Engineering and Quality to develop new suppliers with systems to support quick development, low cost, and high Quality.
Strategic Sourcing - Lead the strategic sourcing process including RFQ development, quotation reviews, supplier/contract negotiations, and supplier development. Lead sourcing meetings with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, etc. to reach conclusions on sourcing.
Low-Cost Country Sourcing - Work with low-cost country sourcing commodity manager for the appropriate sub-commodities for year-over-year net cost reductions.
VA/VE - Work closely with long-term suppliers to manage this core supply base for productivity/cost-down initiatives through the use of VA/VE tools.
Supplier Kanban/VMI - Work closely with the supplier base and the lean group to actively integrate the suppliers into SPX plants through the appropriate use of Kanban, VMI, and related tools.
Maintain a working knowledge of the world-class supply chain process to ensure that existing processes are targeted to attain excellence versus industry benchmarks.

Required Experience
5 to 8 years' relevant work experience in global manufacturing companies with increasing responsibilities in a multi-site, multi-product, company.
International experience is strongly preferred.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Solid negotiation skills. Competent at leading a negotiation. Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing processes and project management skills. Experienced in quality and supply chain.
Familiarity with ERP systems and specifically supply chain management systems is required.
Understanding of supplier capabilities and the marketplace. International sourcing experience and technical acumen.
Technical acumen to bridge the gap between internal development and external supply base
Demonstrated experience and success working in a fast-paced, matrixed environment satisfying multiple customers. Strategic planning/thinking skills, coupled with analytical and execution skills.
Strong presentation skills and ability to articulate vision to a broad audience.
Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including advanced data functions in Excel, and ability to translate data to decision-making.
Demonstrated ability to interface with executive and senior-level management, both internally and externally.
Well-versed in commercial agreements - NDA, Master Supply, Intellectual Property
Competent in ERP systems and end-to-end supply chain management processes (concept, planning, development, launch)
Proven track record of meeting commitments with the highest standards of ethics and integrity.
Take charge individual with intensity and clear sense of urgency.
Out-of-the-box thinker, decisive; experienced in, and capable of communicating the need for results and leading change with various departments and teams.
An excellent team player.
Historically demonstrated understanding of the difference between giving best effort versus doing what's necessary.
Education & Certifications
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Materials Management or related field.
A Master's Degree in Business or a Technical field is preferred.
Travel & Working Environment
Travel is essential for success in this role to understand the business needs as well as supplier site visits.
Travel expected to be 25-50%.
The working environment is fast-paced and will require managing several interrelated initiatives simultaneously. The ability to set a clear vision, align resources, and ensure commitment will be critical to success.
