About the Role

We have created a new Commercial Analyst position to support our sales success, through collaboration with our global sales teams and reporting directly to the VP of Sales. We are seeking an ambitious individual in the early stages of their commercial career, eager to learn and grow. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, the ability to interpret data effectively, and the confidence to present insights to senior leaders, along with exceptional communication and influencing abilities.

This role is located at our Corporate Headquarters in Newark, NJ, and includes global responsibilities that involve collaboration with teams and stakeholders across multiple regions.

The Commercial Analyst supports business growth by monitoring sales opportunities, conducting market assessments, and analyzing competitor intelligence to inform strategic pricing decisions. This role offers data-driven recommendations and collaborates with the sales team to identify growth opportunities that enhance competitiveness and optimize market positioning.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze market size, key players, growth rates, and sub-segments to evaluate existing business by segment and identify new opportunities.
  • Utilize monthly cost data to guide pricing decisions and oversee global pricing within limits set by the VP of Sales.
  • Provide direct pricing for sales and intercompany transactions, ensuring alignment with organizational pricing strategies.
  • Serve as the central resource for all competitor intelligence, gathering insights on competitor activities and responding to intel requests from sales and technical teams to support informed decision-making.
  • Track sales opportunities in collaboration with regional sales teams to support the VP of Sales in aligning on growth targets.
  • Compile and present summaries of sales performance metrics to facilitate strategic discussions and decision-making.
  • Assist the VP of Sales in preparing for and conducting structured sales calls, such as the weekly U.S. sales call (Mondays at 11am EST).
  • Identify new business opportunities and collaborate with sales to develop strategies that target specific growth areas.
  • Analyze customer profitability, supporting margin and pricing decisions that contribute to financial targets.
  • Complete additional responsibilities as directed by the VP of Sales.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Marketing, Finance or related field required. With advanced analytical certification preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in commercial analysis, sales operations, or market research within the chemical or manufacturing sectors is required.
  • Proven experience in developing pricing strategies and conducting cost analysis is required.
  • Strong proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau, SQL) and CRM systems (Gold Mine); familiarity with ERP software is preferred.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with strong interpersonal abilities. Capable of presenting information clearly and responding effectively to questions from management and cross-departmental staff while maintaining a proactive and constructive approach.
