Founded in 1966, UPROSE is an intergenerational, BIWOC-led, internationally recognized community organization. UPROSE works at the intersection of racial justice and climate change through community-based planning and research, policy advocacy, popular education, organizing, artistic expression, and youth leadership development.
The Green Resilience Industrial District (GRID) is UPROSE's transformational community Just Transition plan that seeks to operationalize a Just Transition in Sunset Park through the "green reindustrialization" of its waterfront. The GRID's first goal is to "Strengthen the working-class character of Sunset Park through the preservation of maritime and industrial land uses and neighborhood jobs." The first step to achieve this goal is New York City's adoption of a GRID Special Purpose Zoning District. The GRID Special District Campaign Coordinator will coordinate all campaign-related activities needed to achieve this objective.
This is a full-time position that provides a benefits package and professional development opportunities. Job Description
We are seeking a talented and motivated Resource Database Developer to design, develop, and maintain our resource database systems. This role requires a combination of strong technical skills, an analytical mindset, and the ability to work collaboratively to create efficient, user-friendly database solutions.
As a Resource Database Developer, you will be responsible for ensuring data integrity, optimizing performance, and integrating systems to support business goals and improve accessibility to resources.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain resource database systems.
Collaborate with stakeholders to identify database needs and specifications.
Create and optimize database architecture, tables, and queries for efficient data storage and retrieval.
Develop and implement database security protocols to ensure data protection and compliance.
Perform routine testing and maintenance to ensure database functionality and reliability.
Integrate databases with internal and external systems as needed.
Document database design, processes, and changes for future reference.
Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues promptly.
Stay updated with emerging database technologies and best practices.
Qualifications
Required:
Proven experience as a Database Developer or similar role.
Proficiency in [SQL/MySQL/PostgreSQL, etc.] and other database management systems.
Experience with [database design, ETL processes, data warehousing, or other relevant skills].
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Preferred:
Experience with front-end and back-end integration for database access.
Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
Familiarity with API development and integration.
Certifications in database management (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate).
